Stifling UFO Reporting

It’s hard to believe, but it has been 40 years since those school kids in Australia witnessed flying saucers. It all happened on April 6, 1966 when they saw saucers near their school, Westall High. After the sightings, charred grass and crop circles were seen. It is amazing how over 200 witnesses could be written off, but isn’t this the way it goes when people see a ufo? As I have mentioned before, it seems that there is someone or many someones charged with discrediting anyone who states that they have seen a ufo, even crowds of people who state this. At the time of this sighting, it was big news. It was carried on the front pages of papers, on tv and on the radio. What is even more exciting about this sighting is the fact that planes had followed the ufos and were circling them overhead according to some witnesses. Some said that it was only children who saw the ufos and completely discredited the sightings and the fact that teachers were there also.

How far has the attempt to stifle people from reporting ufos gone? In this country (USA) sightings are way down. The crazy fringe element has effected the reputations of the serious ufo experts. After all, would you want to be associated with someone who claims that they are the Queen of Venus or some such thing? The pressure on a ufo witness to just forget what he has seen is enormous. There are even reports of people being threatened and that if they say anything they will disappear. People have reported that MEN IN BLACK have knocked on their door and warned them about saying anything about a sighting. The stories state that these men ride in black SUVs and sometimes even black helicopters are seen in the sky. Is there some sort of plot to shut people up? It sure looks like something is going on and has been for many years. But why would the government care about ufo sightings?

In the former Soviet Union you really took a chance even talking about ufos, but there was a time when the ban was lifted. During this time ufo sightings and discussions were taking place everywhere. To the horror of the Soviet Government, some of the sightings being discussed were really secret Soviet rocket launches. When the Soviet government realized that state secrets were being discussed, they again banned ufo sightings. It was their fear that foreign powers would figure out that some of the sightings were secret Soviet projects. So here we have a very good reason not to discuss ufo sightings. This could be the same reason that the U.S. has tried to stifle these sightings.

It seems that the more open countries are not big into advanced defensive weapons. A good example of this is Mexico. Many sightings are being reported there all the time. The Mexican government doesn’t seem to stand in anyone’s way and being a witness to a ufo sighting in Mexico doesn’t seem to carry the stigma that it does in some other countries. It has even become a respectable news topic on tv, much different than the tongue and cheek reporting here, if it even makes it to tv at all, which is a very rare happening, indeed. We do have the occasional tv special that refers to ufos and attempts are being made to legitimize the topic, but so far they haven’t really succeeded. When anyone is questioned from NASA about some of the more unusual ufo sightings, they always act as if this was some lunatic subject. I can understand them not wanting to be the one to give credence to the topic because they all want to keep their jobs, but this surely hurts others. By others I am referring to the people that made the sighting.

One of the problems with ufo sightings is that if a hundred of them are reported, usually a large number can be explained away. You might be left with only 2 or 3 sightings that are not easily explained. Out of these 2 or 3 sightings, I am willing to bet that 1 or 2 can be traced to some sort of secret military device, but there is always 1 or 2 sightings that just can’t be explained. These are the sightings that are the life’s blood of ufo organizations. If a silly sighting is made then it is blown all out of proportion to make every other sighting seem foolish. One type of sighting that it seems the authorities love to ridicule is the type where someone is in the woods, preferably alone, and states that he saw a ufo. It is very easy to make this type of sighting look ridiculous. A story that has been spread around, over the years, that can’t even be verified, is one where two people are drinking moonshine outside a still in the woods and see a ufo. Of course this has all the elements of drunks seeing things so the story has been repeated many times. Not only does this story look foolish but it tints the stories that come after it.

The government has admitted using disinformation. They have never said that they use it in ufo cases, but it certainly seems that they do. Are they discrediting ufo sightings, because like the Soviets of old, they don’t want sightings of new weapons to become known? Could it be that we have alien technology? This is claimed by many people but is it feasible? If an alien ship crashed could we even figure out any of the technology to copy it? It would be like a cave man trying to copy a jet fighter. I am not a big believer in the fact that we copied alien technology but I do believe that if did ever find a crashed alien ship, it might give us some ideas that we could use.

I think that there is no doubt that reports of ufo sightings in this country are being monitored. I also think that as soon as one is made, an agency deep inside the government, perhaps working for the Air Force or NSA swings into action. They look over the report with an eye on how to make it seem stupid and then they go to work discrediting the witnesses. This is a sad state of affairs, but from all indications, it looks feasible. Will we ever learn the truth about ufo sightings in this country? I doubt it. The talk now is that even some of the declassified documents are being classified again.
