Who Owns Our Skies?

We have a habit of believing that we own the skies over our heads, as do all the other nations of earth. Unfortunately for us, evidence is beginning to show that this is far from the truth. If this were true, would there be so many ufos being sighted that we can not control? We can not even chase a ufo away from an airport that is hovering over a gate for a good half an hour or more, right in front of everyone. Look what happened at O'Hare Airport recently. A ufo just boldly sat right above a departure gate. Does this seem to you that we have control of our skies? I will take this a step further, we don't even have control of our oceans, or the local space above our planet. Some people don't want to admit that there is something strange going on, so they make up excuses for what is happening and they ridicule anyone that says that they have seen a ufo. Admittedly there are some kooks out there, but most of the sightings of ufos come from respected people, they are your neighbors, friends and just all around ordinary people. Some sightings are from pilots, engineers, scientists and government officials, just to mention a few. There is even a group of respected people that have decided to tell everything they know on the subject to the people. The group is composed of people such as former NASA scientists and engineers and many different types of witnesses. This is known as the Disclosure Project. Still it doesn't make the news.

Why wouldn't any of this be newsworthy? Could it possibly be that it is being kept out of the news on purpose. The news papers will tell you that ufo news is not interesting enough to the general public and it doesn't sell papers. The government will tell you that ufos are just natural phenomena and can be accounted for by clouds, lights, balloons and such. Then there are the skeptics. There is certainly nothing wrong with being a skeptic, but there is something wrong when you have a completely closed mind and no matter what proof is shown, you refuse to accept it. That is not just being a skeptic, that is someone on a mission to make people look foolish. Why would some people do this? There could be many reasons. As I said above, there certainly are some people who are kooks that report on ufos, could the same be said for some skeptics? Then there is the disinformation which is constantly being put out to keep us in the dark. It seems to me that if the government would just devote half of the effort that they put into ufo disinformation into something else, they could accomplish a lot. Look at the reports that they put out on Roswell. There were several and they all contained erroneous statements that were clearly wrong. I remember that on the last report, the Air Force stated that the so called alien bodies were dummies that were dropped from planes. The problem with this is that it didn't happen until a few years after the crash and the dummies had large hooks in their heads.

We have not had control of the skies since we began to fly, we only thought that we had. Alien craft have been reported in our skies far before the advent of human flight. When Ken Arnold saw strange craft in the sky and the press termed them “flying saucers”, that was the beginning of the modern age of ufo sightings. Many pilots had seen strange objects in the sky during World War Two, but this really began to hit home after Arnold reported what he saw. He had seen several strange craft flying at thousands of miles an hour and they were sort of shaped like a crescent. David Keyhoe gave an interview to a then famous reporter named Mike Wallace on ufos in 1957 and the following paragraph contains some of points he made.

In 1947, the Air Technical Intelligence Center at Dayton, that's the top Air Force intelligence men and scientists under contract, sent secret documents to the Commanding General of the Air Force, saying that whatever these things were, they were real. In 1948, ATIC, the same group, sent a top-secret estimate to the Commanding General, Hoyt Vandenburg, that these were "interplanetary spaceships." In 1952, there was an intelligence analysis of the maneuvers of these things, as seen by radar, triangulation, radar photographs. In '53, the Central Intelligence Agency and the Air Force had a special panel of scientists meet at the Pentagon, to tell them what to do, and after they got through, this group said, "You don't have proof that these things exist, not scientific proof, but you have a very strong circumstantial case. We suggest you quadruple investigations, set up special observation posts and in the meantime release everything you've got to the American people."

Nothing was ever turned over to the American people and to make matters worse, reporting agencies were set up to manufacture excuses for sightings, rather than examine them. One such reporting agency was Project Blue Book. This was an understaffed reporting unit that was only there for disinformation. There have been a lot of major sightings in this country and around the world. Let's look at some of the major ones in this country.

Starting at the beginning, I have to talk about the sightings in 1492 by Columbus. He actually saw something that he described as a light glimmering at a great distance. It would appear and then disappear. This happened several times during his voyage. Was this a ufo or something else? We have no way of knowing, but he certainly thought that it was worth putting into the ship's log. A crash of an unknown object took place in 1897, in Aurora, Texas. The people of the time claimed that they saw the pilot of the craft and it was not human and that they buried it in the local cemetery. The grave has since been moved and can not be located. During World War Two, pilots on both sides of the conflict saw strange craft in the sky and we gave them the name of Foo Fighters. They would follow planes, which they clearly outperformed. They were the masters of the sky then, as they are now. Then in 1947 there was Roswell, we all know about that. In 1948, craft that resembled green balls of fire appeared over many U.S. Military bases, causing an investigation by the military. That same year a pilot was sent up to investigate a ufo sighting over Fort Knox Kentucky, he was killed. Again during that year a fighter jet chased a ufo for almost a half hour over Fargo, North Dakota. In 1951 lights were seen over and over again over Lubbock Texas and this became known as the Lubbock Lights.

Getting into even more serious sightings, ufos appeared over the White House and the Washington D.C. Area off and on for days in 1952. The ufos became front page news in most of the major news papers of the day. Every time interceptors were sent up, the ufos would leave only to come back after they were gone. Radar in the area picked up the craft. Things changed a little in 1952, because a delta wing craft was sighted that was flying with saucer shaped ufos. The sighting took place over Nevada. In 1953 several witnesses stated that they saw a ufo land at Flatwoods, West Virginia and an alien came out. This creature became known as the Flatwoods Monster. Here is one of my favorite stories. In 1953 a plane was flying over Otis Air Force Base and had engine trouble. They had been chasing a ufo. The pilot and radar operator bailed out. The plane and radar operator disappeared and only the pilot and canopy of the plane was found. 1953 was not a good year for us. Another pilot disappeared while chasing a ufo over Lake Superior. The U.S. Air Force had claimed that in 1956, 1966 and 1968, that Minot Air Force Base had been attacked by unknown craft. They were said to have used beams of light.

Let's skip to more recent times. There are still plenty of older sighting I could talk about, but I think that you get the idea. In the 1980s there was a diamond shaped craft that irradiated three people. U.S. military helicopters had accompanied the object. The people had to be treated for radiation poisoning. Salyut 6 cosmonauts were said to have established contact with a ufo (I know this had nothing to do with the U.S., but it was worth mentioning). A Japanese Airlines flight over Alaska was followed for almost one hour by ufos, which were detected by military radar. These are also the years when the Gulf Breeze, Florida sightings took place.

Sightings continued through the 1990s and indeed, we are still having them today. One of the really big ones happened in 1994, in Vienna, Ohio. Over 15 police officers and hundreds of locals chased low flying, multicolored ufos. In 2004 many people in New York City saw ufos that appeared in October of that year. In 2005 the White House was evacuated as a ufo was caught on radar heading over Washington. In 2006 we had the famous O'Hare incident. There are so many more sightings that there are just to many to discuss here. But I have to now ask you the question again, do you think we really own the skies? I know that I don't.
