In this month's UFO updates there seems to be several interesting stories. One that really caught my eye was about former President Carter's UFO experience. It stated that Carter didn't deny seening a UFO, but that he did think that it was not extraterrestrial in nature. An article indicated that the former president believed that the distances in space were too vast for alien craft to transverse them. It went on to say that the story about former head of the CIA and President, Bush Sr., did not deny Carter from looking at secret UFO materials or standing in his way when he wanted to find out about UFOs. This is just the opposite of what we have been led to believe all these years. The story that we have been told is that when Bush Sr. was head of the CIA, President Carter went to him and asked about UFOs and was told he didn't have the need to know by Bush. I wonder if we will ever find out which story is really true? Another story has come out about the famous astronaut Dr. Story Musgrave. Supposedly he has encountered extraterrestrial vehicles at least six times in his career and it is said that each time he tried to communicate with them unsuccessfully.

A new map of UFO hotspots has been released. One cannot help but notice the lack of sightings in the southern states. The heaviest concentration of sightings seems to be in our Far West and the Northern West Coast taking in Washington, Oregon and Northern California. I am very surprised to see that Florida is not listed as a hotspot area.

A mysterious object was recently filmed in the skies of Kolkata, India. Many eyes were riveted on the object which took the shape of a flaming ball, but somehow changed between that and a flaming triangle. An Indian newspaper went on to say that scientists were puzzled by the object and claimed it was too early to hazard a guess on what it might be. "A cosmic body cannot change its appearance the way this one seemed to do. But an expert needs to observe it for a longer period of time to be able to comment on it. It is very strange and intriguing. Sadly, TV pictures are not enough to make a conclusion," said Kamalesh Kar, astro-particle physicist at the Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics.

A scientific agency has alerted the world to the fact that an asteroid is headed towards the earth and will miss it by 5600 km. It was said that the asteroid was previously unknown. The distance that it was scheduled to miss us by was less than half the diameter of the earth, which is extremely close, maybe too close. If anything happened to alter its path even by a insignificant amount, we could have been headed for trouble. There is a strange element to this. Scientists have found that the path of the asteroid matches that of the European space probe Rosetta, which is scheduled for an Earth flyby. It turns out that the unknown asteroid is the space probe and all the warnings had to be canceled. This truly left some of the scientific community with egg on there faces. Well as they say better safe than sorry.

Milton Sprouse is a retired Air Force veteran who says that he was stationed at Roswell Army airfield in 1947. He has just stated that he had been told by the ground crew that a flying saucer had been captured. We all know the story by now, it has been burned into our heads and has been argued about for over 60 years. It is still interesting to hear from those that were there at the time. Democratic presidential candidate Bill Richardson has stated that he believes that Roswell has not been explained to his satisfaction. I just can't help but feel that there is not any way, given the fact that many documents have been destroyed, that we will solve the Roswell mystery at this late date.

That UFO that had the town of Wilton Connecticut all excited, has turned out to be a low flying blimp. The strange part of this is that the object was described as being triangular in shape, not cigar shaped. Could there have been more than one object in the sky that night? You never know. The Coalition for Freedom of Information wants the US government to reopen its investigation into UFOs. They have been picking up support along the way, but I wouldn't hold out too much hope. Even if by some miracle they would succeed, we would probably just have another Blue Book.

It Is now being said that CIA documents exist that show that during the Cold War, we were more worried about alien invasions than an attack by the Soviet Union. The CIA had denied involvement with UFOs for decades, but now recently released documents showing that they were indeed involved with unidentified flying objects. If one wanted to examine the documents that have been released from this agency so far, they would have to notice that there are far more from the early days. Some say the reason for this is that the agency has decided not to keep these type of documents, since they would show their intense interest in the subject. I wouldn't know whether this is true or not, but it is strange that the amount of documents on UFOs has trailed off so much.

NASA has been fighting in court to try and prevent having to search their records for a UFO incident that occurred in 1965 in Kecksburg, Pennsylvania. There was supposedly a crash of a UFO in that area and the government has refused to open its files to show what if anything happened there. The Air Force has stated that a meteor struck the earth there, but people who went to the scene were blocked by soldiers from seeing anything. Supposedly a flatbed truck was called in at the time and carted the object away. The UFO community has refused to let the matter fade away and NASA was sued four years ago with the intent of forcing them to release this information. NASA moved to have the case thrown out of court, but their request was denied. A compromise was reached and NASA agreed to conduct a thorough search of their records. So far nothing has been found, surprise, surprise.

UFOs can appear anywhere and to prove this, one was recently sighted in Fujairah. Fujairah is an emirate with only 1150 km². The people of the area were said to panic upon seeing the object streaking across the sky. The residents called police. The police believe they have found the source of the object, which was a light on top of a cement factory. Millstadt, Illinois was the location of another sighting in October of this year. Several UFOs showed up in the background of a photo that was taken in a pumpkin patch, showing a man and his children. Under magnification disc shaped objects are clearly visible in the daytime sky. A UFO has appeared in the skies of the Karakopru area of Sanliurfa province, Turkey this month. It has been described as a glowing hexagon ball of light that hung in the sky. It was said to emit lights that were red green and white.

Late In June 2007, a UFO was spotted hovering over a Mexican power plant in Vizcaino. It seems that over the years, UFOs have had an affinity for power plants and some think that they use them to replenish their fuel in some way. The plant is located in Baja California Sur, Mexico. An engineer at the plant just happened to have his camera with him at the time and snapped a picture of the UFO. There were several witnesses to this event. While it is hard to make out the image of the UFO because it is very small in the photo, it does seem to resemble a classic disc with what looked like three or four funnel shapes or bell shaped objects on the under side of the craft. The craft itself seems to be metallic and the sun's light can be seen: glinting off of the surface.

Unfortunately there are so many crazy stories out there , that it is hard to know which ones are true, if any. A new story has surfaced that states that former president Reagan had a briefing on UFOs and now the transcript of that meeting has been found. Supposedly the meeting took place at Camp David Maryland between the sixth and eighth of March in 1981. Such notables as William Casey the Director of the CIA and former Secretary of Defense Caspar Weinberger, among others. were supposedly there. The story goes on to say that not only was the fact that UFOs were in the earth's skies discussed, but information was given to Reagan to be passed out to the public to get us used to the idea.

A UFO was spotted in November over Deline, Canada. It was seen at 5 a.m. in the morning hovering near a ridge. It hovered for over an hour and many people came out to see it. It was the shape of a triangle and had a bright light in the middle of it. The light was so bright that it was described as looking like a star. Some people claimed to see a beam of light shining out from the object directly into a lake below. One person is said to have taken one full hour's worth of video of the object. Others claimed to have seen this bright light later in the day, more specifically at about 8 a.m. Late in October of this year, a fireball was reported crashing into the ground near Bismarck North Dakota. North Dakota is one of those places on the UFO sightings map that I alluded to above, that has a lot of UFO activity.

Six UFOs were seen in early November in the skies above Carvoeiro, in Portugal. They Were described as orange glowing orbs and they were seen at about 11 p.m. It is said that they were moving horizontally across the sky, all going in the same direction when suddenly one changed direction and the other five followed it. The sighting lasted for approximately 2 minutes and the main witness stated that it was impossible to judge this size and altitude. An unidentified flying object was observed in the skies around Toowooba in Queensland Australia, in middle July of this year. The object was described as being kite shaped and moving slowly from Southwest to Northeast. It was seen at 5:40 p.m..The object was flying very near restricted airspace that was reserved for the Cabariah Army base. This particular area has been extremely popular with UFOs over the years and hundreds have been sighted. Another UFO was spotted in the skies above Islington in the UK. The craft was said to have been triangular shaped and hovering above the statue of an angel in broad daylight. A witness said that he never believed in anything like this and initially didn't want to come forward, because he felt that he would become the laughingstock of the town, but he later changed his mind. This is the second time that this area has had a UFO in the sky this year. Another UFO was seen in the skies in that area heading southward. It was described as having five bright green and red lights that were perfectly spaced.

Well so much for this month. It will be interesting to see what next month brings, since it is the holiday season.
