Unusual Transportation Accidents
Sometimes you see something that just defies logic, when this is connected with a traffic accident it sometimes gets even stranger. I would like to tell you first about three accidents that I observed personally. The first one has been on the news recently. A family returning home to their two story private house were shocked to find that a car had gone through their second story wall and an automobile was sitting in their upstairs bedroom. I have only see the result of the accident and it seems that there were no witnesses to the accident itself. How did the auto get airborne? It would have had to fly upward through the air reaching a height sufficient to put it at the same level as the second story of the house. The second accident I saw took place about twenty years ago and happened on the Kosciusko Bridge in New York. That bridge is constructed in such a way that it is like two tressels put side by side. I was driving into New York City and there it was, a van was sitting with all four wheels off the ground with its bottom resting on the rails that were between the two parts of the bridge. It just seems that you never have a camera when you want one. The third accident that I saw that seemed very unusual to me was on the side of a interstate road. We were driving across country and there it was, a very large tractor, as in tractor trailer, and it was nose down in the dirt, but standing perfectly on its nose. At first glance it looked like it had been dropped out of a plane, nose first. What had caused this strange event? One could only imagine. Maybe the truck ran up up a hill and became airborne, but there was no hill in the area? Since this was not a possibility it must have became airborne some other way. Could it have hit another vehicle and became airborne in some freak manner? It must have happened it a way similar to this. The rest of the accidents I want to talk about were not seen by me but I did see photographs of them. This one was not so much a freak accident but more of a careless one. A lady decided it was time to gas up. Just like the rest of us, she decided to fill up. She paid before hand because it was a pump your own gas. She filled the tank with the requested amount of gasoline and then got distracted. She then entered her car and without giving it a thought, drove away. She noticed that the car was pulling so gave it more gas and then it seemed to release and she heard a terrible sound like she was dragging something. It turned out that she was dragging something. She had neglected to take the nozzle from the gas pump out of the filler pipe on the car and as she drove away she ripped the pump off of the mooring and dragged it for about a block. This always amazed me, you would have thought that she would have noticed something wrong and got out of the car to look. I think that an accident in Britain has to rank right up there with the strangest ones. The driver was just cruising along, minding his own business. He wasn't doing anything wrong. As nature would have it, he was in for a rude awakening. Something crashed through his windshield, it was a frozen squirrel. I guess it must have been a very cold day. It was no picnic for the driver and I bet it wasn't it wasn't any fun for the squirrel either. One poor guy in Britain had his car parked in the street when he heard a crash. He ran outside only to see see that his car had been hit. He was very disturbed, not just for the car but for what hit it. You see, a reindeer had run into the car and caused damage to the car and to himself. One poor British gentlemen came out and started walking toward his car. He was shocked to see that a heard of cows had surrounded it. He wondered why and got closer and to his horror, the cows had licked his car so hard that they destroyed his paint job. Why would cows even want to do this? I guess they liked the taste of his paint. Another Britain was driving down the road and took his eyes off the road ahead of him. This may not seem so unusual except for the fact that a ufo was hovering over his car. As he watched the ufo he no longer was watching the road and hit an obstacle. There it was, no one could deny it, a car was hanging from the high tension electrical wires. The two front tires were entangled and amazingly the car just hung there off the ground. It was a strange sight. The car must have jumped about twenty feet into the air or higher. I often wonder if a tow truck truck hauling an automobile got into an accident, could the car in tow somehow get launched? Would the tow line act like a sling shot? I personally saw a car launch into the air about 12 feet height. I was traveling on a road known as the Southern State Parkway. The road had a median in the center that was about three feet height. and slightly slanted from the base to the top. It was almost like a triangle shape from top to bottom. To make matters worse, there was a curve in the road. A car speeding in the westbound lane hit the median and flew into the air. I was a passenger in a car going eastbound. The flying car passed over my head and as I looked up I could almost touch the bottom of it. Unfortunately for the driver he fell out as the car turned over and over before hitting the grass on the shoulder of the my lane. He was in shock and I covered him after helping him off the road. A cop car came along and called an ambulance which took the driver away. I never found out how he faired. An accident took place in China that was very strange. A woman liked to take her dog for a ride. She noticed that the dog liked to touch the steering wheel with his paws when she drove. She figured, what the heck, why not let the dog steer. I guess she figured he had a license. Problem was it was a dog license. not a driver's license. What will people do next? I really don't think it is prudent to let your pets steer your car. The road was a typical U.S. parkway. It had bridges going over it every so often and the bridges had embankments made of cement that were almost like a ramp. Somehow one car jumped into the air landed at the base of the embankment which was about three feet high and rode up the ramp and landed up crashing halfway through the railing of the bridge above. If one didn't know who the car got to the top, they would have to wonder what was going on. Every once in awhile you come across a very strange looking auto accident. Some of these seem to defy logic, but the evidence that they did happen can not be denied. If you told some people about what you had seen, some of them might not even believe you. I heard a story one time about a family that was just driving along minding their own business when they felt something strike the back of their car. The impact had been quite hard but no car was in sight. The driver got out to look at the back of his auto. There was a hole through his trunk, top and bottom. A meteorite had hit the car. The odds of this must have been greater than winning the lottery. The car was repaired and they got a few hundred dollars for the interstellar chunk of rock. |
