Strange Places
I was reading an article on the internet where someone stated that one of the strangest places he had ever gone to was Lawrence, Kansas. Now I normally wouldn't think of Lawrence as an out of the ordinary place. My idea of it is that is is just another population center in this large U.S., only it is one that is subject to flooding. He does not feel this way, as I have said and states that there are several reasons for his feelings and that he never wants to go back there. This peaked my interest. One thing that he mentions is that there are a lot of suicides in the college there. I wouldn't know anything about this, but he claims there are at least one a year. He also talks about a house, actually the wreck of a house that stands to this day, that gives him a very uneasy feeling. He claims that it is a meeting place for people who profess to be witches. He didn't make it clear whether he felt that the house itself was evil or haunted. I guess that one person can feel that a place is strange while another may not feel this way at all. One of the strangest places that I know of is the Coral Castle in Florida. If you Click Here you can find out some facts about it. It was built by a single person who was somehow able to lift pieces of coral that weighed so much that it was impossible for this to be done without the largest of machines and yet, he claimed to use a block and tackle. Even more amazing than this, he moved the entire structure several miles by himself with a truck, it took three years and no one seems to have seen him do it. We are talking about a huge castle type structure made from stones that weighed upwards of 35 tons. The entrance gate weighs 9 tons. He even carved and raised an obelisk that weighs 28 tons. Surely this has to be one of the strangest places in the U.S. Did Ed, the guy that built this place, find out some ancient secret that maybe the Egyptians knew about moving huge stones? To tell you the truth, this whole thing seems impossible, yet here it is. Edinburgh Castle Some people think that castles are strange places, especially those that have reputations of being haunted. I have been to several of these personally, but alas, I have never seen anything to indicate that there were any ghosts or spirits on the grounds. I have been to Inverary Castle, Edinburgh Castle and several others in Scotland famous for their spirits. Inverary Castle is a beautiful place That looks to me like something out of a story book. It looks almost like an apartment building with turrets on each side. There is certainly no sinister atmosphere there. As for Edinburgh Castle, it is a huge place, on top of a hill, that has the feeling of an armory or museum. There is a very large courtyard where the traditional military tattoo is held every year. That is when the military pipers play. Again, it seems interesting when you are there, it certainly does not feel evil or haunted. Do not go by me however, I never seem to see anything unnatural. I have never seen a ufo, ghost, or any other type of paranormal object. People have been claiming that they have seen ghosts in the two castles for hundreds of years, so who am I to refute this? Deserted Cliff Dwellings What about places where entire races of people disappeared without a trace, would you consider this a strange place? I think that this is the first place that I would classify as truly not only a strange place, but a mysterious one. We have a place like this in the U.S. What, you didn't realize it? I am sure when I mention it, you will say, oh yeah I knew about that. The place I am talking about is Mesa Verde, Colorado and the people were the cliff dwellers that used to live there but just disappeared without a trace in 1300 A.D., leaving their buildings for us to marvel at. Scientists and archeologists have been trying to figure out what happened ever since they discovered these buildings, but have never found a concrete reason for their disappearance. If one likes this sort of thing, they can also visit Roanoke Island in Virginia, where, on a smaller scale, an entire colony disappeared. It was the first English colony in the new world and organized by Sir Walter Raleigh and settled in 1587. By the way, when the colony settled the island in was North Carolina, but became Virginia latter on. There is a ranch in Unitah County, Utah that is said to be so active with ufos that the original owner had to sell it, but this particular area in Utah is also the home of many different paranormal activities. You are just as liable to get a big foot sighting as a ghost or a cattle mutilation. It is believed that the basin that the ranch is located in has been the home of so many sightings that at least half, if not more, of all the people that live here have seen something strange. That is quite a lot of people. The population of this basin is estimated to be about 55,000. Why is this area so active? That is a good question, maybe the area itself should be examined more precisely to see if there is anything special about it. Some might say that there is some sort of a vortex there that allows extra dimensional travel between it and other places as indeed many believe this way. Other might say that certain lines of forcer on the earth might converge there, lines we are not aware of. In any case this area certainly has to be considered one strange place. It may turn out that the strangest place on the Earth is actually either under it or under one or more of its oceans. There is no doubt that when you go deep enough you start to observe some very strange things indeed. You see fish that have no eyes, animals that live in hot water vents that would kill any creatures on the Earth's surface and just plain blackness. Most of this deep water is unexplored, therefore it is hard or even impossible to say what will be found down there. Wouldn't it be something if there was some sort of civilization living down there? Some people suspect this and even claim that this is where the ufos come from. They claim that they are home grown, not from another star system or even another planet. They go on to state that the Earth is hollow and instead of a molten core, we have a tiny star powering our planet. At this point in our development this theory can not be proved or disproved, but is not the accepted one. I guess there are enough strange places on Earth for all of us, no matter what our tastes. |
