What is a phobia? It is a fear of something and there are so many phobias out there that you would not believe the size of the list. There must be at least 1,000 different ones if not more. Some phobias are extremely strange, not to say that any are what we would call normal but some, at least, we might be able to call understandable. There are so many that I will only cover phobias starting at A thru C, I will proceed with the rest at later times. Lets look at some of the more exotic phobias.

Ablutophobia - You wouldn't want to get to close to someone who has this phobia and you certainly wouldn't want to sit next to them in a movie. This is the fear of bathing.

Alektorophobia - This is the fear of chickens. I don't know if it includes Kentucky Fried?

Alliumphobia - I thought only vampires had this phobia. This is the fear of garlic. I guess you will never see a person with this phobia eating in an Italian restaurant.

Allodoxaphobia - If you have this phobia then stay out of politics. This is the fear of opinions.

Anablephobia - The people with this phobia find a lot of things in the street. This is the fear of looking up.

Apeirophobia - This is sort of a hard one to figure out. I still don't know exactly what it means, but it is the fear of infinity.

Apotemnophobia - This is the fear of people that have had amputations.

Aulophobia - These people are just not in to classicial music. This is the fear of flutes.

Aurophobia - Most of these people have nothing to worry about, as a matter of fact, I could have this phobia and never know it. Its the fear of gold.

Aurorphobia - Stay away from the North Pole if you have this phobia, its fear of the Northern Lights.

Automatonophobia - Fear of anything that pretends to be human like ventriloquist's dummies.

Bolshephobia - This phobia is a little outdated, its fear of the Bolsheviks.

Barophobia - Well you just can't do much about this one, its fear of gravity.

Batrachophobia - fear of amphibians.

Bufonophobia - this is closely related to the phobia above. It is the fear of toads.

Caligynephobia - This is just plain crazy, its the fear of beautiful women.

Cathisophobia - You may see these people standing in empty subway cars. This is the fear of sitting.

Chaetophobia - This is the guy with no eyebrows. Its the fear of hair.

Cherophobia - As the sour puss, this is the fear of being happy.

Chorophobia - These are the people that are always sitting during the dancing, its the fear of dancing.

Chronophobia - I guess we all have this is some way or another, its the fear of time.

Chronomentrophobia - This is sort of related to the above phobia, its the fear of clocks.

Cibophobia - This phobia can kill you, its the fear of food.

Clinophobia - You can tell these people, they are the ones with the bags under their eyes. This is the fear of going to bed.

Cometrophobia - This people don't have too much to worry about unless they have a telescope, this is the fear of comets.

Coulrophobia - This I can almost understand. This is the fear of clowns.

Crystallophobia - This is the fear of glass or crystal. I wonder if plexiglas is included?

Cymophobia - The fear of any wave or a wave motion. I guess they would really freak out at a football game.
