Carbon Cycle

Scientists have been stating that carbon dioxide levels in our atmosphere have been rising at an alarming rate. Am I mentioning this because I want to talk about the greenhouse effect? No, not this time. It has been shown that the higher levels of carbon dioxide that we breathe can cause high blood pressure. Today there seems to be more people than ever on pills to control their blood pressure. Do you see where I am going with this? I can't help but wonder, if the increased carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is responsible for increasing the blood pressure of some of us? An interesting experiment might be to put several volunteers, that have high blood pressure, into a room with a level of carbon dioxide that was about the same as in 1930 and see if the high blood pressure readings go down in any of them over a period of time?

Scientists state that there is some mysterious force that connect atoms in this universe and that if one is moved, there will be another moved instantly, no matter how far away it is, even hundreds of thousands or billions of light years away. I can't help but think about this statement. Could it be that humans, we are made of atoms you know, have a double somewhere out there and that double is repeating every move that the person is making here? Maybe we are making the same moves that are made by people located on other planets somewhere else? This gets sort of weird when you think it through, doesn't it?

We seem to be getting into a very creepy part of science lately, have we reached a point in science where we are going to be making more and more discoveries that seem to almost border on the paranormal? What about that black box that sits in Edinburgh Scotland. Oh you haven't heard about that one yet? This is this black box that contains nothing more than a device that randomly puts out 0s and 1s. Statistically there should be an even number of each over time. This sounds good so far, but the truth is that before tragedy strikes, the box puts out far more of one number than another and scientists are at a loss to figure out why. They have become so intrigued by the box that they have put them in different cities. The box itself contains only a cheap chip that you would find in any calculator and is set to a random number operation. Just before 9/11 hit us, the box went crazy. It's Earth-shattering stuff,' said one of the scientists involved with it. Are we all phychic and on some subconscious level do we know that something is going to happen before it does and does this outpouring of concentrated brain waves effect the box?

Einstein said that you couldn't travel faster than the speed of light. This has been the holy grail of statements for almost a century, but what happens when you make light travel faster than its own top speed? Scientists in France have not only succeeded in increasing the speed of light in an optical fiber, but also have slowed it down. Does this make Einstein's statement about light wrong? Technically, light is light and if you can make light go faster than the speed of light is the new faster speed. The speed of light that we usually refer to is the speed it travels naturally. When they were asked about this, they said that only a portion of the light traveled faster. It doesn't take much to move an object in space. Can you imagine building some sort of light engine that could send out light at this increased speed to push our ship? Wait a second, the increase was only a few hundred miles per second more, but maybe that is only the start of what we can increase the speed to?

Dimensions

This may be hard to choke down, but there are rumors on the internet and a story in a very respected magazine that a hyperspace engine is being looked into by the U.S. Here is the strange part, it would work by allowing the ship it is powering to go into a different dimension, where light supposedly travels a lot faster, thus cutting down on the time your trip takes. When you get near your objective, it would pop back into our dimension. Right now it is said that the device is hypothetical, but that the theory has been outlined. If the engine became a reality, it would allow you to travel to a star which was 11 light years away in about 80 days. Travel around our solar system would be a lot faster. You would be able to reach Mars in about 3 hours.

A new type of engine has been invented, it is the 6 stroke engine. This means that it has 2 more strokes than your current automobile engine and runs so cool that you can touch it without being burned. Wait, it also has no cooling system. The reason it is so cool is that steam forces the piston down a second time. The steam is acquired from water injection. This engine is about 40% more powerful than engines of today.

For the first time, U.S. scientists have developed a material that has a negative refractive index for visible light. What does this mean? It means that we now have the capability to make something invisible to human eyes. You can bet that this will be used in the near future. Can you imagine going into your home and not realizing that someone was hiding in it by using some sort of cloak of invisibility? What if it ever got into the hands of criminals. Would it ever be used to spy on American citizens? When you look at how things are going, constitution wise, you can't discount anything. Hey there may be someone standing next to you now that you can't see.

Space Void
Graphic Source: Me

Radio astronomers have found that there is a void in space. This wouldn't normally be news except for the fact that this void is enormous. It is about a billion light years across. There is said to be nothing in that space, but space. I have to wonder about this. There is something called dark matter that is said to be everywhere and indeed it is said by many to be responsible for the attraction that is speeding up the expanding universe. Scientists have said that if you had dark matter under your chair, you would never know it. Having said this, how do we know that there isn't some sort of dark matter in that space? What about a dead black hole that might have chewed up everything around it for a billion light years?
