Sounds like real bunk doesn't it? Imagine that scientists have developed some way to predict events that will occur affect millions of people. This can't be, everyone knows that this is impossible, don't they? So knowing that the future can't be predicted we have to wonder what is the black box that is attracting so much attention in scientific circles that is housed in Edinburgh Scotland? When you ask around, you get the answer that this box is merely a random number generator that puts out 0's and 1's in random fashion and shows them as a line on a graph. This is a simple enough electronic machine that is controlled by a chip that is of the simple type you find in calculators and the explanation is also simple enough. But when you look into the matter more deeply, you find that there is a heck of a lot more to this black box.

When I was a kid we used to play a game, it had no name. It consisted of a thread with a needle hanging from the end. We would hold it in our hand by the end of the thread, the needle was at the bottom, extending our arm out andwe would try and make the needle swing in pre determined patterns by just thinking about them. It seemed to work, but none of us believed it. We all thought that we were moving our arms somehow to accomplish this. I only mention this to show the possibility of thought control.

The official name of this project is called the Global Consciousness Project and is headed by Dr. Roger Nelson of Princeton University a very respected researcher. You begin to think, why would someone of his stature be interested in a simple machine that puts out only two numbers? The answer to this is not so simple. This machine should, because of the laws of probability, graph a straight line most of the time and never have much variation in it because probability states that eventually, the amount of 0s and the amount of 1s should be equal. Anything that has two chances of being right when used randomly should be about 50/50. Just about everyone knows this. Indeed the machine bore this out. But Dr. Nelson had a theory and he wanted to see if it could be proved. He wanted to see if all of humanity could tap into a single mind, a mind that we didn't even realize is there. This is starting to sound more like science fiction than reality but believe me, this is being taken very seriously. Dr. Nelson began his project by reviewing over three decades of former experiments in this area.

So why is this little box so important all of a sudden? It is important because something strange and unexplainable by the scientific community happened. before the events of September 11, 2001. A few hours before the attack on the World Trade Center a huge spike appeared on the graph and lasted for an outrageously long time. All the laws of probability stated that this was impossible. Then it happened again 24 hours before the devastating Tsunami that killed hundreds of thousands of people. How and why did this happen? No one can say for sure, it makes no scientific sense what so ever. An interesting aside is the fact that the spikes appears strongest in the local areas when the events take place, even though spikes are seen everywhere. High population density also seems to play a role. The greater the population density the greater the effect on the chart.

The first experiments in this area date back to the 1970s when Professor Robert Jahn of Princeton University developed an electronic coin flipping machine. The machine was really an early black box known as a Random Event Generator that printed a graph from 0s and 1s the only two numbers it considered. The next thing Professor Jahn wanted to see was if ordinary people could effect the outcome using only their minds. The results started to come in and contrary to all intellectual thinking, it worked. People could affect the outcome of the machine. It seemed to be impossible but it was happening.

More and more random number generators, that were placed in different places in the world, were being hooked into Dr. Nelson's experiment. Maybe there was one conscienceness for all of us and we don't know it. So what is the result of all these number generators being tied in? It seems that every time there is a major event, it is predicted hours before on the machine. The machine will give out a major spike. We can't tell what the event will be, or even if it is a disaster or not, just that there will be one. Dr. Nelson has attracted interest in his project and now has about 75 scientists involved.

Other experiments have taken place that show people subconsciously know that some events will happen before they do. When showed pictures that were designed to upset people intermixed with placid pictures, the viewers brain waves reacted before the upsetting picture was seen. Do we have an unknown ability to tap into the future? Will man realize this and maybe even be able to enhance it? Only time will tell.
