The New Evolution Of Humans
Be all you can be, we have all heard that before, it is the motto of the U.S. Army, but it also seems to be the motto of nature, where humans are concerned. When we think of the human race, not many of us think of it as being in an evolving state. I am not talking about the slow drawn out process of evolution that we hear about when bones are dug up, but something else. They say that if you were in the middle of something and it changes gradually enough, you probably wouldn't even notice it.That is sort of what I am talking about here. Recently the scientists that are studying the human genome have discovered that the human race is evolving extremely fast. It turns out that the general thinking on this subject was that we were not evolving any longer and now we find out that just the opposite is true. Some scientists, who are not connected to the genome project, have determined that something is happening with us. They state that there have been tremendous changes in humans and many have occurred in the last 100 years. When I first heard this, I couldn't help but wonder what they were talking about? I didn't see much difference in humans recently, but I certainly didn't test anybody to see if there was any difference either. These people, to prove their case, cite the abilities of children. They claim that with each passing generation of children, many more of them demonstrate abilities that are beyond the normal person. One such ability is what I like to refer to as super memory. Certain children have demonstrated the ability to remember complicated arrangements of numbers and names seemingly effortlessly. More and more children are being found that can do this. Currently there are quite a few children that talk about past lives and the number seems to be increasing. Many people believe that this is sheer nonsense and yet when some of the data has been tested, there was an uncanny correlation. What I mean by this is that in some cases the people that the young childtrn spoke about actually existed at one time and houses and rooms that were described by the child were found. The information was not always 100% accurate, but in most cases it was accurate enough to be startling. For example, one child kept insisting that he lived with a different mother and father on a certain island. His parents were very disturbed about his insistence of this fact, but couldn't help but notice how detailed the story was that he told them .They finally decided to take the child to the island and see what they could find. When they arrived the child was able to lead them to the exact house that he said he had lived in. The house was not occupied and they were able to enter it and it was just how the child had described it. Not only that, but the beach that he said he used to go to with his mother and father also was located in the exact area that he used to tell them about it his stories. The astounded parents decided to do a little research while there and they looked up the names of people who used to own this house. On the list of names was the name of a woman who the child had told them about and who he said was his mother. The father's name was nowhere to be found. There was just no way that the child could have known any of this and the parents never discussed the island and didn't know about the woman or house. This sort of ability, if this is what it can be called, is appearing in more and more young children. The question is where do these memories come from. Do they demonstrate that we have all had past lives, or is there some other answer that is avoiding us? The memories appear in very young children, children that are too young to pick them up from books and maybe even television. Another puzzling thing is that they seem to know so many details about there so-called past lives, too many details to have just picked them up by listening to things. Another strange thing is that the children do not seem to retain this ability and if it is not acted upon, many of them lose these memories as they get older. Is any of this due to to the fact that the human race is evolving at a tremendous speed? It would be very interesting if we could take a human child from 10,000 years or so back in time and compare it to a human child from today. This is not possible of course, but if it were, we would probably be shocked at the differences. According to some scientists, the baby of today would possess skills far beyond the baby from yesterday. .It is unfortunate for us that we really can not make this comparison and because of this we can never be sure that what we are being told is absolutely correct. We just have to accept the word of researchers. The scientists at the genome project estimate that just in the last 5000 years, which brings us back to about the stone age, positive human selection is occurring at a rate of about 100 times higher than it did back then. To digest this fact we have to sit back and think about what they are talking about. An example of this was the experiment tried by the Nazis in world war II. What they had done was to take only people that they considered Arian and mate them with other Arians, thus producing what they thought would be a pure Arian race. In this case we are talking about natural selection. That is where one person selects another person as his mate. Well according to be scientists people are selecting mates that have very good genes about 100 times more than they had 5, 000 years ago. This fact they feel leads to a more advanced human and also speeds up what we call evolution. .I can't help but feel that this idea might just have a chance of explaining the disappearance of certain races such as the Neanderthals. What if the Neanderthals were doing just the opposite and choosing mates that had worst genes at a greater rate than those that had good genes, would this eventually have wiped them out? Another thing that I wonder about is if there is some plateau that once past, increases the speed of the evolutionary process? Could it be that we have passed this plateau and that we are only at the beginning of this new speedy evolutionary process? What I mean by this is that people born in a few decades from now could have far more abilities that people born today. Are we going to find out that humans will eventually become super humans? Will they have such abilities as telepathy, perfect memory and mathematical abilities far beyond what we have today? This may not be as far fetched as we think. It is beginning to seem that even if we don't obtain these abilities naturally, we will be able to obtain them from technology. The biggest stumbling block right now is our own body. Until we figure out a way to stop its rejection process we really can't proceed any further in this area. What we need is some form of container, or enclosure that is completely rejection free, then we can put our implants into it and insert it into our body. .Even more ideally would be implants that were made of this material. Once we are able to solve this problem of rejection, the sky is the limit in improving humans. Eventually we could insert memory chips into people that would contain entire library's of data .Everybody would be an expert in every field. Some say that we can insert these chips into people today and indeed some people have done this, but recent medical research has shown that eventually this will close a cancerous condition. Last year I read about a couple that had a chip inserted under the skin in their hands that basically controlled many things in their home. My advice to these people is, take it out while you can or it will only lead to problems for you So why are things different today, as far as natural selection for humans? Scientists state that this is because of the huge population and the tremendous choices available for human mates. They state that the human race is actually mutating into something far more capable. Contrary to what we have seen in those old horror movies, mutations are not always bad .The right type of mutation can be very beneficial to us. One genetic scientists has stated that the difference between the human race today and 5,000 years ago is greater than the difference between the humans and Neanderthals that lived at the same time. Some scientists go on to state that one of the reasons that we have changed so much is because we live in a much more relaxed atmosphere than our ancestors did thousands of years ago when they had to hunt for their food and their daily survival was impossible to predict. More than 99% of the human genome is common to all humans, but it is that less than 1% of it that is changing. This may not sound like very much, but it is enough to completely revamp the human race. "The researchers identify recent genetic change by finding long blocks of DNA base pairs that are connected. Because human DNA is constantly being reshuffled through recombination, a long, uninterrupted segment of LD is usually evidence of positive selection. " So what will our descendents be like? Well I guess it depends how far into the future you look So far we have only talked about changes in human abilities, but as time goes by, there will probably be changes in human physiology. It turns out that some of the genetic changes are being driven by our cultural changes, at least this is the opinion of the people at the human genome project. They give an example of a gene known as CCR5 which was said to only have come into existence about 4000 years ago. This gene is now said to be in at least 10% of the European population. The gene was discovered during AIDS research since it has the ability to make people resistant to that disease. Nobody knows where all this will finally lead to, but there is no doubt that change is in the air. |
