Why I Will NEVER Use A Ouija Board Again!

In January of 1970, I had my first experience with a Ouija Board. My ex-wife returned from her shopping, board in hand. When I asked her why she had bought such a load of obvious rubbish, she replied, “I felt impelled to buy it”. This statement made me wonder what the heck she was talking about?

After our early evening meal, she literally pestered me to have a go with the board. I had always felt that Ouija Boards were ridiculous, but after another barrage of pestering, I eventually agreed to give it ten minutes, on the basis that anything intelligent, which was supposed to reply, would do so in that period of time. I wish that it hadn't.

The Ouija Board was made of plastic and manufactured by the firm from Salem, America. The word pointer had a small, clear plastic circular window near the front of it, with a small pin in its center. Large black letters were arranged side by side on the upper edge of the board, with the obligatory ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ below them and on either side of the cream colored board. Near the top of the board, was a space, which read ‘Mystifying Oracle’.

We placed our finger tips on the plastic triangular shaped pointer and the pointer was on the letters. Nothing happened,. We waited for a few minutes with our fingers on the pointer and then we experienced the unexpected. The pointer began to move haphazardly back and forth across the width of the board, then moving to some of the letters in turn quickly. Only gibberish can describe the sequence of letters that were being exposed, they certainly didn't spell anything, anything in the English language anyway. That was it, as far as I was concerned and I had decided to end my first and last session with the board, when the erratic dashing about of the pointer halted for a moment, then moved very quickly to a series of letters, spelling out the message, “Saw a fire on a boat baby dead 2 be on guard fire”. I asked who was there and received the reply, “Parson 187”. Then the message contact ended and for a few minutes again, all was gibberish. This ended my first contact using the Ouija Board.

The next day at my place of work, I informed my two regular workmates about the message and we all had a good laugh about it. As the shift progressed, it became apparent that our regular electrician had not turned up. George, our supervisor sent for a replacement, who finally arrived half an hour later. None of us knew him.“Give me your name and works number and I ’ll arrange an early meal for you in the canteen”, George said, as he opened his notebook, preparing to write down the worker's information. The new man replied, “Parson, 187”. My name is Parson and my work number is 187." George came across to us, as we stared wide eyed at the electrician. “Ask him if he’s got a baby”, he whispered. “George, I don't want to know", I replied.

I was upset, it seemed that the first message from the Ouija Board had been confirmed. Upset as I was, my appetite had been wetted, I wanted to know more. I didn't know it yet, but I would see the rest of this message come true in 1973, some three and one half years later.

That night, we used the Ouija Board again and after a few moments of skidding about, the pointer halted briefly, then as if floating slightly above the surface of the board, it spelled out the message ,“You took some finding again”. I was so astounded, I forgot to ask what this meant. After that, the smooth feeling moving pointer spelled out message after message, night after night for weeks and then months on end. The messages were of facts which I could check. I did and they were correct. There was no more gibberish. The messages commenced immediately each time we used the board.

The ensuing messages explained among other things, how the Ouija Board worked, it used telepathy. Our fingers on the pointer were merely a mechanical means to carry out the thoughts that were placed in our heads. They allowed the pointer to move to the appropriate letters that spelled out the message that we were supposed to see. I was in no position to argue that particular point. It seemed as logical to me as anything else for this unusual form of contact. When I asked the question that must be on everyone's mind, “what lay in store for us after our deaths”, the reply was surprising. It was, “We are not dead and you know as much about that as we do”. This indicated that I was in contact with several beings, who's origins and locations were a complete mystery to me. Is it possible for the dead to not know that they are dead? Were they even human, I didn't know?

As time passed, I began to ask for proof of who I was in contact with. Below are examples of what we were told by the Ouija Board entity, as I asked for proof on several occasions:

1. I was given instruction to go to the top of my back garden and look towards the hedge separating it from the field. My ex-wife refused to go further than the back door, so I gingerly walked to the hedge alone. For about fifteen seconds nothing happened, for which I was thankful for having time for my eyes to adjust to the darkness. Then something moved to the right of me. I stood in amazement as two very pale blue weakly illuminated objects, about the size and shape of a baseball, each slowly traveled near the top of the 6 foot high hedge, on its far side. They were approximately two feet apart. I watched them slowly pass by me and continue their slow journey, until they faded from view. When I got back to the Ouija Board, it spelled out, “Is that proof enough?” It sure was.

2. Some time later I was given instructions again. “Go to you bedroom window overlooking the field. Look over the top of the woods on your right”. We opened the window wide, staring out into the pitch blackness into the direction indicated for a few minutes, then a bright white flare fell out of the sky from high up and slowly descended into the far clearing in the middle of the wood.

I had my proof that someone or something was directing the actions of the board.

A neighbor friend, Brenda J., got interested and asked us if she could use the board. We agreed and subsequently she and my ex-wife made contact with the entity from the board. She received the following message, “You will have a baby in one year’s time. It will be at home and (name) will be by your bedside”. Brenda ridiculed the message, saying, “I’ve got kids now and will have no more and the person (name) who will supposedly be by the bed at that time, is my biggest enemy”. One year later, Brenda gave birth, at home and her once biggest enemy, but now her friend, was at her bedside. The entity had predicted the future correctly. Things were getting really scary by this time.

Another friend, Cyril H. was very skeptical of the board. His attitude towards it was the same as mine had originally been. When he tried the board, it only allowed him to ask one question. This is what it had also allowed Brenda the first time. He visited us with his wife Mary, one weekend. He and my ex-wife used the Ouija Board. He was about to ask his one question. I was so confident that it would be answered correctly, that I told Cyril to look over his shoulder and the ex-wife to stare up at the ceiling, before he asked his question and while the pointer was moving. I would write the reply down, as it was spelled out. He asked his question, “Where was I born”. This they did till the pointer halted. “O. K., what’s it say”, he asked sneeringly? I replied, “I don’t know. I’ve never heard of it. I don’t know if it’s a name or an object. It’s Consette”, I was thoroughly puzzled with it. “Hey lad".he said, "You’ve got something there”, he shouted, as he snatched his fingers off of the pointer. He said that.Consette is a town in the North East of England.

An hour later, he tempted fate by asking another question of the Board. He too was now as intrigued as I was. I sat, prepared to write any message down which might come. Together with the ex-wife, he began to ask his question. He didn’t have time to finish it, before the pointer moved rapidly. It said that his wife Mary, was wanted urgently. He asked who was communicating with them and the name of ‘Figg’ was given. This was a new one on me. Then the tone of the incoming message changed as the pointer literally whizzed round the board to the correct letters. The message descended into pure filth, directed at Mary. They threw the pointer on to the carpet, breaking contact. But this wasn’t the end of ‘Figg’.

A few weeks later, other neighbors, George and Brenda (another Brenda different from the first one), asked if they could borrow the board on Saturday afternoon, while the ex-wife and I went shopping. We agreed and they took it home, they only lived down the street. .On our return home, some hours later, we paid George and Brenda a visit. I asked them how they were getting on with the board? They were both sitting at the board, silent. Brenda looked up and said, “Who’s this disgusting Figg and who’s Mary?. He’s always there and just keeps spelling out that he wants Mary and then there is lots of filth”. They did not know Cyril and Mary, who were relative newcomers to the village and we hadn’t told them about the name ‘Figg’. The ex-wife turned a ghastly shade of pale and ran to our house. Thankfully, we never ‘met’ Figg again, or anyone else. We finished using the board, but that first message, which we received concerning a fire and a baby, was waiting in the future, to prove itself again.

One Sunday in April, 1973, three years plus since receiving the first Ouija Board message, I decided to visit the Trent embankment in Nottingham, U.K., for a relaxing afternoon by the River Trent. I sat on a bench, enjoying the view for some time, then my concentration was instantly broken. A group of several people were passing by me a few yards away. They were heading towards the water. They were all dressed in dark clothes, they might have just come from a funeral in an old churchyard some distance away, behind me, but I couldn't be sure. I saw a physiotherapist at the end of the group that I had gotten to know four years before, in the hospital I was in, for a knee cartilage removal operation and rehabilitation. I was astonished to see her carrying a baby and dressed in her hospital uniform, which contrasted so starkly with the dark, somber clothes of the people immediately in front of her. She looked at me silently, as she passed and continued walking close to the other people in front of her. I watched them walk for about a quarter of a mile, as they headed down the embankment and then disappeared from view among the milling throng of people enjoying the pleasant day. Approximately five minuets later, in the direction they had walked, a huge pall of black smoke began to rise from the waters edge. It positively billowed up. Intrigued, I walked along the embankment till I reached the point where I had last seen the physiotherapist and the several dark clothed people. There was a crowd of people watching a pleasure boat burning fiercely at the waters edge, smoke pouring from it. I remembered the first Ouija Board message and left the area quickly. Next, the number 187, that had been predicted, was going to haunt me again

It was September, 1976. The day of my thirteen and a half year old Daughter’s funeral. The hearse arrived, it was a new one. As we traveled towards the cemetery, I was in the car behind her. There was a sudden bright flash from the rear of the hearse, as if a ray of sunshine had hit on something extremely shiny. The number plate of the new hearse came into view and I saw the number ‘187’ on it. I didn’t look at the preceeding letters on the plate. I just turned my eyes away from it. Don't EVER use a Ouija Board, no good can come of it and who knows what foul things might happen to you or you family?
