Paranormal Theories

There are a lot of strange places on this planet of ours, places where events take place that just can't be explained. There are also a lot of strange theories about what is happening in some of these places. I think that by now, I have heard just about every explanation for strange things happening, that anyone could possibly think about. Some of these explanations are so unique that I just have to share a few with you. A couple of people have a theory about paranormal activity. It is such an unusual theory that it is even more mysterious than the paranormal activity itself. When they were asked if they believed in spirits and ghosts they stated that they did not, but that they did believe in paranormal activity. Well if this doesn't make you wonder what they are talking about, nothing will. When they were asked to explain further, what they were stating, they went on to say that they believed that there was something there, that was upsetting people in certain locations, but rather than ghosts, or spirits, people were encountering the results of time travel experiments that went wrong and trapped certain life forces from the past in some dimension, between time and that is why we can not communicate with these beings. Well I guess this would be a sort of rift or rip in time we are talking about. It is an interesting concept, but it seems to be totally incorrect on the face of it. In order for this to happen, I would think that we would see more evidence of people disappearing in front of our very eyes, once in a while. They claim that this does happen, but we just don't remember it since time is altered.

Another theory that I have heard about the paranormal, is that even though we think we are seeing things taking place, such as figures of people and animals at so called haunted places, these are nothing more than recordings being played back. They claim that there is some unknown process at work, that has recorded the movements and sometimes the sounds, of people when they were alive and under certain conditions, parts of this is played back like a movie. In some instances, this very well might be the case. I have mentioned this before, but it is so interesting that I am going to mention it again. A squad of Roman soldiers has been seen and heard marching through the catacombs under Rome. This is not something that was seen by only one or two people. People claim that you can see through them as they march past and there are also wagons and horses that are visible. Some people have seen this more than once and they claim that it happens exactly the same way, each time that they see it. This happens to fit this theory very well. There is no acknowledgement by the soldiers that they are aware of anything. It is as if a hologram was being played with sound.

One interesting theory states that everything we see, as far as the paranormal is concerned, is generated in our own brains. In other words, it is not really happening, but we just think that it is. You would think that this theory would be dismissed instantly, since there are so many cases where several people have seen things at the same time, but it isn't. There is a theory about this part of it also. The second theory states that something in the environment is effecting the brains of all those that are present, thus giving them the exact same hallucinations. Sometimes even different types of molds are said to be the culprits. I must admit that I have a hard time with this theory, I can't help but feel that even if everyone was hallucinating, that they wouldn't have the exact same hallucinations. I don't know how you feel about this, but it seems pretty far out to me and I can't help but feel that the odds against this are so overwhelming, that there is just not much of a chance of it being true.

Ah, now for the electromagnetic wave theory. One theory that seems to be slowly gaining in popularity is the electromagnetic wave theory. The idea is that electromagnetic waves from either a nearby source or even unknown sources are creating havoc with our dimension, in ways that we don't understand yet. An example of this might be a home that has paranormal activity and is located under a high tension electrical line, or near a power station. Electromagnetic waves are just not understood that well yet. Heck we don't even know exactly what electricity is yet. Sure we know how to make it and use it, but ask a scientist exactly what it is and he will not be able to tell you. So the question is, do electromagnetic waves have some effect on our dimension? Could it be that they can create some sort of tunnel that the energy from those that have died, can seep through? This seems a little far out, since no one is yet to scientifically prove that there is life after death, although they are getting close. We now know that energy can't be destroyed and most of us believe that we have a soul, which might be the life force of our bodies or in simpler terms, the energy that keeps us alive. If this energy survives, then we may well survive in a different form. We have to match this to the relatively new theory that states that all energy goes to a different dimension. Some inventors and scientists are now saying that they have figured out how to tap into this energy. Could it be that some of the life forces in this dimension are trying to get back here? I will leave that answer up to you.

Tied in with the electromagnetic wave theory, is a theory that ghosts produce magnetic fields when they appear. You hear this theory mentioned often and yet, where is the evidence of this happening? Some people claim that they have measured magnetic waves produced by ghosts, only to have it disproven. One has to remember that there can be many other causes of magnetic waves in a house and even the very electrical wires can produce this effect. In order to be able to prove that the magnetic wave theory is correct, you would have to coax a spirit to appear in a controlled environment, where there was absolutely no electromagnetic waves to start with. Even if electromagnetic waves did appear, you would have the problem of trying to figure out if they were the cause for the apparition's appearance or the effect from it. One of the problems with paranormal theories is that they are not scientific theories. They usually assume too much. If we watch any of those paranormal shows on tv, where they hunt for ghosts, the investigators are usually equipped with an EMP detector. That is an Electromagnetic Field detector. If you just happen to have one around, try walking around your house with it for twenty four hours and note how many times it gives off a signal. Sensitive Thermometers are also used, because paranormal investigators feel that spirits use energy that is taken from the surroundings and that causes drops in temperature.

Digital Recorder Used To Record EVPs

Another theory states that spirits are able to record messages that we usually are not capable of hearing at the time. These recordings are called EVPs. An ordinary recording device is placed in a so called haunted area and checked some time later to see if it has picked up any voices. Some times there will be something on the recorder, that is almost impossible to make out and people will sit around listening to it and saying things like, "Gee that sounds like hello or something like that". Very few of these recordings are clear, but in all honesty a few seem to be. Now we have the question, were they hoaxes? Here was a machine, laying unattended, sometimes for an entire night, that was accessible to anyone. Again, before anything can be taken for granted, this recording would have had to have been made under scientifically controlled conditions. The internet is littered with EVPs, which means absolutely nothing, it is also littered with fraudulent ufo videos and photos. In order for me to be convinced that an EVP is real, the experiment would have had to have been overseen by a reputable scientific authority, conducted in a scientific manner and held in a location that was proven to be free of stray waves and noise.

A question that has been asked more and more lately is, is the paranormal really part of something else, something we don't understand yet? That might very well be. It seems that there are certain things that happen that we can not properly account for right now, that we attribute to the paranormal, that might turn out to be something completely different. One example is that some experts say that we cause our own paranormal experiences by unconsciously using our minds to do it and that the human mind is far more powerful than we suspect. This is one theory that just might have a chance of being right. Many suspect that the human mind has untapped potential. In the end, it just might turn out that all the paranormal activity that has been observed, has really been caused by one or more of the people observing it and they just didn't realize it.
