Strange Street Plaques

"Toynbee Idea in Movie 2001 Resurrect Dead on Planet Jupiter", what does all this mean and where does it come from? Well as for the meaning, no one is exactly sure but it seems to refer to a man named Arnold Tonybee and the Stanley Kubrick Film "2001: A Space Odyssey". Well, so what, you might ask, what is the point? The point is that this is all part of a very strange story that I am about to relate.

It seems that mysterious plaques with the above message or very similar ones have been found actually set into the roads of many cities, both here in the U.S. and in South America. The material the signs are made of has withstood the traffic passing over it every day. The really strange part of all this, aside from the message. is the fact that most people never really noticed them. This is quite a fact when you consider that New York City alone has over 50 of these plaques buried in different streets. A couple of the New York City locations are 41st Street and 5th Avenue and 36th Street and Park Avenue. You can also find these plaques in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Aberdeen Md., Edgewood Md., Washington DC, Columbus, Toledo, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Boston, Bellmawr NJ, Chicago, Indianapolis, St. Louis, Kansas City, Detroit, Mottville, MI, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, and Santiago.

It makes you wonder how something that is this spread out isn't noticed more. Remember each city may have one or many of these plaques.

Arnold Toynbee was an English religious historian and of course Stanley Kubrick was a great director. 2001 depicted a mysterious Jupiter that seemed to be of interest to an alien race or was it really God? Had Toynbee discussed his theory that dead people were populating Jupiter or had Kubrick discussed an unknown proposed script change or what he felt the story was about with Toynbee?

Enter another figure, James Morasco who was a social worker in the city of Philadelphia A story was carried about him in the Philadelphia Inquirer. The story said he was trying to get newspapers there to carry a story about his idea of using dead people to populate Jupiter. Things just seem to be getting weirder and weirder. The article also stated that Morasco founded an organization dedicated to this idea.

How could these plaques be placed in so many streets and in so many cities and yet not one person ever reported seeing who did it? Even assuming it was done at night, some of those New York City locations are still busy. How were the plaques set into the street without heavy equipment to melt the asphalt? How did they get into so many locations? Was this a group effort?

I think it would be interesting to know if any new plaques are being placed in the streets. It would also be interesting to know when the plaques were inserted.

We may never know the answers to these intriguing questions.
