The story of Hitler's death is one of a man who knew the end was near and was determined to not be captured alive. Supposedly while he was in his bunker, on April 30, 1945, realizing the Russians were almost upon him, he put a automatic pistol to his head and pulled the trigger while reclining on a couch. The body was then taken outside, put in a pit and set on fire to destroy the evidence.But is this what really happened ?

The basic question here is did Hitler have a double that stood in for him ? Doubles have been used throughout history to stand in for famous or infamous people in different situations. Why wouldn't Hitler have had a double to trick the allies about his location or stand in for him in dangerous situations ?

Eva Braun, made a statement regarding Hitler's Munich-based double, that he "wears built-up shoes to overcome a height difference," Thus we have an indication that not only did Hitler use a double but there may have been more than one.

A strange think happened with Hitler. Journalists began to notice a difference in Hitler's physical appearance. It was his nose. Pictures taken of Corporal Hitler in World War I distinctly showed he had a slim nose. The SS gave out an official press release saying that Hitler's nose had been streamlined by a plastic surgeon. But the question still remained, where did the fat nose come from ? Was this the nose of his double ?

Magda Zeitfeld was a female Nazi Intelligence Officer. She was stationed in Berchtesgaaden and was one of Germany's top agents. In 1944 she became a double agent working for the U.S. The reason for her switch in allegiance was that her father and brother had been murdered under mysterious circumstances. The father had the biggest plastic surgery clinic in Berlin. He was favored by the Nazis who strove for physical perfection. He was a pioneer in the use of specialized facial prosthetics. Could he have worked on making Hitler's doubles ? Was he killed to keep him silent ?

Pictures of Hitler's dead body were supposedly confiscated by the Russians from the Germans. There a second set of reversed pictures, why? No other photos of Hitler's body were ever released by the Russians, who state they discovered his corpse and performed several autopsies to positively identify him.

When the Russians took a movie of Hitler's corpse he had a picture on his chest, yet the German photo clearly shows the picture is behind him in the background. Unfortunately we can not get a good view of his nose in these pictures.

The Russians brought in Hitler's dentist to identify Hitler through his teeth. He made a positive identification. This seems simple enough except for the fact that the Nazis weren't dopes. If they wanted to convince the world that Hitler had died wouldn't they have made sure that the dental work matched ? The second thing is that it was Hitler's false teeth that were with the remains of the burned body.

Another possibility exists. A case of stolen identity. Could someone have taken over Hitler's identity. Well the writers of the 1951 movie 'The Magic Face' staring Luther Adler, seemed to think so. The movie is about a makeup artist who becomes Hitler's butler to murder Hitler. He succeeds, becomes Hitler and leads the NAZIs to defeat.

The Russians say they buried Eva Braun and Hitler, later digging them up and moving them. Then in the 1970s digging them up again and destroying the remains to prevent Hitler from becoming a martyr. Since Hitler's Death there have been many reported sightings of him all over the world. Did he escape to South America or some secret underground base in Antarctica and will we ever know for sure ?
