Global Warming or Global Destruction
Graphic Source: Clipart.com It's funny, but we seem to be in the middle of a denial war by some people on global warming. It could be for political reasons, or there may be another reason for it, but the lines are definitely being drawn. I have my own theories on what is going on, but it is strictly just a theory. Whoever would have thought that this subject would have awoken such feelings. A Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor just went on television today and actually had the gall to state that there is no global warming. Could it be that he believes it is more of a global temperature shift? Let's face it, some places are getting colder. Look at the North Pole, the ice is getting thinner and the temperature is rising, but what is going on at the South Pole? The ice is getting thicker. It is also being said that parts of Europe will become frozen waste lands. This could be the reason that our MIT scientist said there is no global warming, but he should have noted that a disaster is building never the less. So let's not refer to the ongoing disaster as global warming, but as global destruction. What is this global destruction I am referring to? About the best way to describe it is the complete climate change and in some cases, the complete destruction of some of the most populated areas in the world. It may be by flooding from melting icebergs or by temperatures rising too high or even sinking too low, but it is disaster never the less. What we may have here is a question of terminology, but I really don't think so. There is a lot at stake here. One has just to look at the emerging industrial countries. They feel that they can do what the industrial countries did to get ahead. Are they right? I have to answer that question this way, almost everyone smoked years ago, but they didn't know it was harmful. When it was discovered that smoking can harm us, many people stopped smoking. Some quit because they didn't want to harm others with second hand smoke. It is the same with dumping coal and oil exhausts into the air. Now that we know it is harmful to ourselves and others, is it fair to poison the atmosphere? That is the problem, some countries want to get ahead, regardless of the cost to the world as a whole, or to their people. But is it only third world countries that are really against putting controls on emissions? No, no, no. Many western companies are using these same third world countries to manufacture cheap products rather than make them in their own countries because they want bigger profits. Look at the raging pollution in China and look at all the companies trying to establish manufacturing there. “Dozens of local chemical factories — makers of toxins including sulfuric acid — disgorge wastewater directly into the Feng Chan river, which is black as ink and clotted with debris.” This is a direct quote from USA Today and this isn’t the only area that is polluted in that country. The country is being overwhelmed by toxic exhausts and emissions and this is contributing to Global Warming. This is not the only up and coming country with these problems. Countries are now faced with a decision. Do they proceed to industrialization less rapidly and more carefully with safeguards in place to avert all this contamination, or do they rush headlong into their industrial revolution and the consequences be damned? In a way this is a war, a war against nature. Nature is losing and our planet is suffering. Sure there are natural things going on that may be contributing to global warming, but at the very least, we are certainly speeding it along. The world has to get together on this problem and stop all these harmful emissions, but we have shown time and time again that we are not smart when it comes to doing dumb things. Well I guess that one can only hope. It is amazing when you think about it, the worst enemy of the human race is the human race itself. What other species can you say this about and be correct? It is almost like we have a built in predilection for self destruction. Just look at all the crazy things we do to ensure our destruction. We build bombs capable of world destruction then spend the rest of the time trying to stop people from using them along with other terrible weapons of mass destruction. We pollute the very air that we have to breathe to stay alive and we constantly fight each other in wars that claim thousands of lives every year. We deny hospitalization to the neediest people along with affordable drugs. What would an alien from another world think of us if he studied the human race? |
