Miracle Cures

There are a lot of things that are unexplained when it comes to people being cured of disease or injury. It seems that you can always find some case where someone is terminal and yet, they are able to somehow cure themselves or find a cure that seems ridiculous on it's face. Sometimes something as simple as hypnosis can be a cure, but more often then not it seems to help somewhat. For example some say that it is a proven fact that while hypnosis may not cure cancer cases, those that have had it live longer with cancer than those that haven't. I have no way of verifying this statement I am merely repeating them.

Heraclides in his book On Dawn, tells about Empedocles, a noted physician. Empedocles stated that he tended for a woman who was in a trance. Not only was she in a trance but she had no pulse. He kept her with him even though she never breathed. Some how he cured her where all the other physicians had failed. Her name was Panthea. When she recovered he offered up a sacrifice to the gods.

It is said that King Pyrhus was able to heal. Not only was he able, but he wouldn't turn anyone down who asked, no matter if they were commoner or noble.

There is a church in England that is claiming that a man was cured at one of their services. It is claimed that the man was dragged into the church during the service as he was unable to walk. He was laid on the floor by the two friends that brought him in and remained there for over two hours. The story goes on to say that eventually he stood up and a few minutes later, began to walk unaided. At the end of the prayer meeting it is said that he was able to walk out of the church on his own two feet. The man claims that when he was brought into the church he was in severe pain and when he left he had no pain at all.

Did you ever wonder about those bracelets that are supposed to reduce pain? One of the biggest manufactures had made claims about how the bracelet would reduce pain and no less a prestigious hospital than the Mayo Clinic decided to test these claims in 2002. They issued bracelets to 710 patients. Half the bracelets were just ordinary bracelets and the other half were the advertised bracelets. The end result was that neither bracelet worked.

A couple were very happy until the onset of pregnancy in the woman caused a terrible disease. The woman had gone to many specialists but they all told her the same thing, that there was absolutely nothing they could do to help her and she was going to die. Finally the couple decided to go away to a place where they could be alone. For thirty days they only talked about happy things. They prayed a lot and meditated a lot. After the thirty days ended, the woman said that she was feeling much better. The couple went back to the doctor and to his astonishment, she was cured. Does the phrase 'mind over matter' ring true in this case?

Have you ever noticed that there is always someone touting an herbal cure for something? I found out one time that the herbal cure that was being touted, was almost the same as the medical cure. It turned out that the medicine was derived from this herb. The problem was that the medicine was more refined and in exact dosages, so even though the herb had the same medicine in it, it was much more dangerous to take. This is something that should be watched carefully.

A 74 year old woman was visiting Lourdes. She wanted to see the pope. The lady had inoperable glaucoma and it had clouded her left eye. Something made her look up into the sky and at that moment her vision cleared up. She had been cured.

Brother Andre lived in Montreal and is credited with hundreds of healing miracles. He died in 1933. In 1928 a couple with a blind child asked him for help. The child had been brought to many doctors in the U.S. but they all said it was hopeless. When the brother saw her he raised the brim of her hat and asked her if she could see him. The child cried and he asked her again and again. Finally the child screamed that she could see him. She had been cured. In 1890 a man told brother Andre that his wife was very sick and asked him to come to his house and help her. When he got there the man was there and said it was too late, his wife had died. A doctor had been there and issued the death certificate. He asked if he could see her anyway? The man let him and he lifted the sheet off of her face. Immediately the woman opened her eyes and asked are you brother Andre?

There is a claim that over 400 people in Uganda have been cured of aids since 1994 by prayer alone and no trace of the disease remains. One of the women cured recounts that she had been so far gone that a local aids organization wouldn't take her.

Many doctors are forced to admit that there is just no explaining some of the miracle cures that they have seen. Many attribute this to the workings of God while a few are a lot more skeptical. One thing that I can say for sure is that there will always be doubters and there will always be believers. Most of us fit somewhere in between. It is kind of hard to be skeptical when a person has a deadly disease that has been verified by several doctors and suddenly they have been cured. At this point I think that most of the skeptics should give it up, but that is only my opinion.

Do miracles exist? I think that they do and that some are still occurring in this day and age. Sure there are plenty of scams out there that would like you to believe that some person or persons can perform a miracle for you for only a few hundred dollars. I am not so stupid to believe that miracles are common, but there is still the occasional miracle that can not be explained by any other way.

It's a funny thing about miracles curing people. They take place in every religion. There are Christian miracles, Muslim miracles, Jewish miracles, Hindu miracles and miracles reported in just about every faith. Maybe mankind could learn from this if it really paid attention. The message is clear, there are good people in every faith and God plays no favorites.
