More Modern Miracles

Do we still live in the age of miracles? I think we do. Many things happen that just don't seem to have an explanation. Some might say that they are just luck or coincidence but that just doesn't explain some of the things that I am going to tell you about. The old testament talks about the many miracles that Jesus performed, but the question is, are there still miracles being performed today? Of course, what I feel is a miracle, you may not. These things are always open to interpretation. Many of the things I am going to talk about happened to one or a few people and were not mass miracles where crowds of thousands saw the miracle such as Fatama, but I think they were miracles never the less. I believe that there are small miracles and large ones, and the small ones might go by without notice if we are not paying attention.

A reverend decided to take his family to the Baptist Convention in South Carolina. He packed them all in the car and they started their trip. There was the reverend, his wife and their two sons, one who was four years old and the other was an infant. Everything was going along fine, then suddenly their automobile hit an 18 wheeler tractor trailer truck head on. Now I don't have to tell you that right away no one should have survived this terrible crash. The car had been traveling over an overpass and besides the crash which should have been fatal, the car was thrown over the railing and plunged to the road below and landed at the bottom of an embankment. The reverend and the infant baby remained in the car when it landed but his wife and older boy were thrown out upon impact. The infant boy had no injuries, while the reverend was only slightly hurt. It was a different story for his older son and wife however. After they had been thrown out of the car, the car had rolled over them. The reverend went over to his older boy but his brain was exposed and his skull crushed. He says he watched him die and he had no pulse. His wife was not in good shape. All he could remember was praying fervently for his son and wife and begging God to help by restoring life to his son,. He then passed out.

When he woke his son was alive but barely. He couldn't believe it. They were taken to a trauma center which wanted to accept the wife but didn't feel there was any hope for the son. He begged them to take him however, and they finally did. To everyone's surprise he began to improve as did his wife. His wife's liver had been destroyed and she needed several operations. The boy got to a point where he could get reconstructive surgery for his skull. Today the boy is leading a perfectly normal live and the wife shows no signs of ever being in an accident. If that isn't a miracle then I don't know what is. People usually die when they are thrown out of a car during a major accident. The reverend's wife says that she now always make sure that everyone is wearing their seat belts.

Sometimes it means more to people to hear about famous people that have experienced miracles, lets look at a few of these.

Natalie Cole, daughter of Nat King Cole, had a problem. Somehow she managed to run her car off the road and it went out of control, flipped several times and landed in a ditch. Amazingly she found herself standing on the road, several yards from the crash, unhurt. Just then a car pulled up with several women in it. One said, aren't you Natalie Cole? The women related the story that they were on their way to bible class and at that very moment had been praying for her to accept Jesus as her savior.

Reggie White the football player had a career ending knee injury. The Green Bay Packers had announced that he wouldn't be able to play anymore. One night while he was in bed, a strange feeling of healing came over his knee. He immediately got hold of the Green Bay trainer and to his amazement, the knee was now normal. He was not the only athlete to have this type of experience. Evander Holyfield, the boxer, was told that he could never fight again due to a heart problem. Supposedly he went to Benny Hinn, the evangelist and was healed. When he was checked out by the boxing commission, the heart problem was gone.

Miracles don't seem to be limited to any religion or race. As a matter of fact there may not be a religion that hasn't experienced some miracles. In the United Kingdom a young Moslem girl went to the fruit store to buy some tomatoes. When she got home, she had diced up the first two, but something made her ask her uncle how to cut up the third tomato. He told her to slice it in half. At that point she claims that there was a message inside the tomato written by the tomatoes' veins. According to the girl, It was in written in Arabic and gave the message that there was only one God and Mohammed is the messenger. Many people are going to the home everyday to see the tomato.

Every religious person thinks that his or her religion is the correct one and each religion has some sort of miracle to prove this. Religion has caused more wars than just about anything else on the planet. So lets hope for the biggest miracle of all, that all religions will finally get along with each other. After all, if one believes in God than one must realize that he believes that killing is wrong and the path is peace.
