Government Secrets

Recently, I was discussing abnormalities on bodies in the Solar System with a reader. It made me think of all the strange things out there and some of the strange things I have read over the years.

One thing that sticks in my mind was a statement by an alleged NASA worker who claimed that his job was to airbrush anything strange out of NASA photographs before they were made public. Some of you would say that only a conspiracy nut could ever believe this and others would say they suspected this already, then there are those that say they are not sure if anything is going on or not. I have looked at many photos on the NASA site and I have seen many photos that were taken from NASA. A few of the stranger photos suddenly disappeared off of the NASA website as if they never existed leaving the possessor of the photo holding the bag if he tried to prove where he got it.

I have seen other photos of the Moon that have the same exact background but are supposedly from different areas of the Moon. I don't know how these could ever be explained. But for the sake of argument lets say that NASA makes a lot of mistakes. Even if this was true, why is it that most of the mistakes take place on controversial photos? I do realize that NASA can have thousands of new photos posted in a day. I am glad of this, because if it wasn't for that fact, we would never see strange photos slipping through their net. Some of the strange photos are very compelling. One can easily find what looks like ruins of buildings. Can you imagine the impact on civilization if we can find a building, on a body in our solar system like the Moon?

Building on the Moon?

We assume a lot of things in public. We assume that life would need oxygen, be carbon based and some sort of atmosphere would be needed, along with water and moderate temperatures. This is what is said in public, but what is being said in private? With the policy of almost total secrecy, that is imposed on anything vaguely connected with extraterrestrial aliens, ufos, structures found on planets or the Moon, etc., how can we ever find out what is going on? Then there is the program of disinformation. Everything is twisted so that anyone saying they saw a ufo or photo before it was withdrawn is made to look like an idiot. Real idiots are even featured on tvs spots and in newspapers to make anyone think twice before saying anything that might hold them up to public ridicule.

I am not saying that space aliens even exist or ufos are vehicles from other planets, what I am saying is that it would be nice to let others say their piece without fear of scorn. I, personally, am interested in what someone might find in a photo or in a sighting of a strange vehicle. In some countries this is perfectly acceptable, why is it so secret here? Could it be for the same reason that the old Soviet Union had clamped down on discussions of ufo sightings?

In the Soviet Union, no one was allowed to join ufo organizations or print anything about ufos. For some reason this was eased for awhile, then suddenly and without warning. it became taboo again. The reason it was forbidden again was that some of the secret missile launches in Russia were being discussed, to the horror of the government. They were thought to be ufos and times and places were being recorded and put into the papers. It was felt that the CIA would know what these events really were.

Is this the problem in this country. Are we conducting so many secret flights and launches that we are putting out disinformation to cover the fact? I can't really answer this question and few could, but I think we certainly are becoming more paranoid as a government. More and more things are being classified. When I was in the military I started out in intelligence. One of my duties was burning secret documents and mixing the ashes with sand and burying them. Some of the documents I burned were about things that I had already seen in magazines like Popular Mechanics. It was a fiasco, as I am sure much of the secret documents today are. One thing you can be sure of, is that this government loves to classify too many things as secret.

Every NASA photo should be open to the public exactly as it appeared when taken. So what if it showed the ruin of a building? So we may discover that there was life on another planet, I don't think that this would cause riots on Earth do you? Why should only a few people be privy to the truth about what we find? I, for one, hope that we find life out there or even evidence that life had existed. NASA doesn't have to alter photos, but they will say that they never have. This brings me back again to the photo of the face on Mars. The first photo taken of the face showed a face. The last photo taken of the face showed just a plateau and it was said, by NASA, that it was a much better photo and this was what it really looked like. The fly in the ointment was the fact that the last photo had much of it's information left out. It was taken in 256 shades of gray but only 16 shades of gray were in the photo. This means that the photo only contained 1/16 of the information that was originally obtained by the camera. NASA has never explained this even to prominent scientists that have asked why this was.

In conclusion, I have to say that things are not getting better but worse. We keep getting more layers of bureaucracy. Every agency thinks that something else should be classified as secret and hidden from the public. Yes there are certain things that should be secret, we wouldn't want our military secrets to fall into unfriendly hands. But the question is, is this privilege being abused? Are there other forces at work here? Are some things being kept secret because they might affect our health, enrich a company that someone in government has ties to or might destroy someone's belief in God? Is the government worried about social chaos? Its time for a change. What good is declassifying documents when you obliterate 90% of what they say?
