James Bond Movie Blunders

Did you ever notice some of the mistakes in movies, I have? I remember in Cliffhanger I was very disturbed to see a plane crash and slide to the edge of a mountain and in the next scene it is hundreds of feet back from the cliff. I am usually very forgiving of movie mistakes, but this one got to me. Makes you wonder why they didn't fix it. Ed Wood, the most notorious film maker in history, had many mistakes in his movies but you could understand it, since he never reshot a scene and never really spent any money to make them. For you who remember Plan 9 From Outer Space, the worst movie ever made (this is not just my opinion), you must remember the famous scene where the zombie rises from the grave and as he does the paper tombstones shake. When Ed Wood was asked about reshooting the scene, he said, don't worry, no one will notice them. Then there is the scene where a pilot is supposed to be flying an airliner. If you look at the controls, the steering is being done by a semicircle cut out and nailed to a 2X4. As if this wasn't enough the airline cabin is nothing more than a room with a black curtain hanging up behind the actors. But enough of this, lets take a look at James Bond movies, where much money was spend to make them.

Dr. No - Bond's gun, the Walther PPK mysteriously is a Browning 1910 when he pulls it out. Miss Taro tells Bond her address is 239 Magenta Drive. Later when Bond goes to her house by taxi he tells the driver to take him to 2171 Magenta Drive. If you look closely at the bull horn scene you will notice that even without the bullhorn the actor's voice is amplified.

From Russia With Love - Its funny, Bond is about to take a bath and turns on the water. Distracted by Tanya entering his room, he leaves the water running while hoping in bed with her. The room never floods.

Goldfinger - This is my favorite Bond movie, I can't really give you a concrete reason why, but I really liked Erik Goldfinger and Odd Job. Bond looks into his mirror and sees the initials T.M. on a rifle case, the problem is they are not reversed as is usual in a mirror. Goldfinger's accomplice is wearing an army uniform but it has Air force strips on it.

Thunderball - In order to spray the water from his Aston Martin that he used to defeat his followers he would have needed a tanker. Bond uses his minibreather far longer that the four minutes it is supposedly good for.

You Only Live Twice - How did Bond, who was wearing normal clothes, get into a commando uniform while climbing into Blofeld's retreat? Bond says he was never in Japan but discusses his trips there in From Russia With Love.

On Her Majesty's Secret Service - Bond and Blofeld met in the prior film but Blofeld doesn't recognize Bond who is wearing sunglasses. Could this have been because Bond was played by George Lazenby who nobody recognized? It seems that even when Blofeld says the Blofeld's lack earlobes, you can't help but notice that he has them.

Diamonds Are Forever - Blofeld is supposed to be a scientist and chemist in On Her Majesty's Secret Service, yet he tells Bond that science was never his strong suit. Bond rents a car in Las Vegas but the plates on it are Californian.

Live And Let Die - The backs of the Tarot cards contain the numbers 007, yet when Baron Samedi turns over two of them they have a different back.

The Man With The Golden Gun - How did M get the number of the telephone on Scaramanga's ship to call Bond?

The Spy Who Loved Me - The song played by Anya's music box is Lara's Theme from Dr. Zhivago, but this song was banned at the time in the Soviet Union.

Moonraker - Since Drax's space station can block radar and remain undetected, but how was he able to build it without being detected?

For Your Eyes Only - Bond plays Chemin De Fer and is dealt an ace and a five, yet the croupier says Bond won with a nine.

Octopussy - Bond enters the casino but above him a microphone appears in the scene.

A View To A Kill - When Bond is tangled up in May Day's fishing line, he is holding a gun but in a close up his hand is empty.

So you see there are mistakes even in the best movies.
