Today we are told about many wonder drugs that are available at exorbitant prices. It is very easy for a senior, or any one for that matter to exhaust their entire income on medicine. The pharmaceutical companies and the fuel companies must have taken a blood oath together to try and corral the entire U.S. money supply, at least it seems that way. When you look into it at a deeper level, it really begins to give off an odor. You find out that some drugs that are given to farm animals and cost a few cents a tablet are the same ones that are being sold for something like 1,000 times that price to humans. To make matters even worse, they seem to be sold at a higher price to humans in the U.S., just check their prices in Mexico and Canada and you will be in for a shock.

There is one wonder drug that seems to be cheap and easily obtained however and that is Hydrogen Peroxide. It has been around for years and has so many uses that it boggles the imagination. So what exactly is Hydrogen Peroxide, we have all seen it in the drug stores for abut $1.00 per bottle? Described simply, it is water with an extra atom of oxygen and this atom makes all the difference. One of these bottles stored in a dark place and sealed tightly can last for years. It is being used for just about everything that you can think of including cancer treatments. I can't vouch for its effectiveness in this area since I am not a doctor, but I can tell you this much, A Nobel Prize winning Doctor named Otto Warburg stated that the more oxygen in a cancer cell the slower it grows. Experiments are on going using Hydrogen Peroxide to force cancer cells to accept more oxygen.

There are several books available that deal with the fact that Hydrogen Peroxide is a miracle drug, these can easily be found by doing a Google Search on "Miracle of Hydrogen Peroxide". Lest you think that I am advocating using Hydrogen Peroxide as a replacement for drug therapy for cancer, lets move on. This stuff makes an excellent cleaner. Aerobic organisms die if exposed to too much oxygen. Hydrogen Peroxide is perfect for killing them. Forget all those expensive cleaners, get yourself a bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide at the drug store and save money while killing germs. Many women claim that using Hydrogen Peroxide to take care of yeast infections works better than any of the over the counter drugs available for this purpose. One doctor has stated that almost everything good we have heard about Hydrogen Peroxide is false and that it is very harmful to the body. He goes on to state that if taken internally, it can cause all sorts of damage. Others state that this is the drug industry fighting back because they don't want their billions of dollars worth of drugs to get tossed aside for something that works just as well and costs pennies. What is the truth here? I dare not say since I am not qualified, I can only say that I have used it many times on cuts and while it does sting a little, it has done a great job of cleansing the wound.

If we talk about using Hydrogen Peroxide for non medical uses, we realize that there are so many different things that it can do. One thing it does well is something that I bet you never suspected. It is said to be better than bleach in whitening clothes. It is also said to be great for killing that annoying toenail fungus that you see advertised on tv all the time. The idea is to use about half water and half Hydrogen Peroxide in a foot bath and soak your feet every day until the fungus is gone. If you put an ounce of Hydrogen Peroxide into water and spray it on your plants, supposedly they will become much greener and healthier. Many people have said that Hydrogen Peroxide is great for cleaning up Acne. Do you have a lot of wax in your ears? Washing out your ears with a few drops of Hydrogen Peroxide might keep them wax free.

The following things are said to work, but keep in mind that I have never tired them and I can not vouch for the safety of any uses of Hydrogen Peroxide. Here are some of the things that people say that they use if for:
Washing meat, vegetables and fish in a salt and 3% Hydrogen Peroxide solution and then cleaning them under plain tap water is said to kill all germs on the meat and fish before cooking it.
When washing pets, putting Hydrogen Peroxide in their bath water will keep them smelling fresh.
Spraying Hydrogen Peroxide in your shower keeps it relatively germ free.
Hydrogen Peroxide in a swimming pool will keep it very clean. It is also said to be great for hot tubs.

There are many uses being proposed that involve putting this on and in food. I think that this is where I have to draw the line. While it might just be helpful, I know that I wouldn't want to eat anything that was sprayed with in or put into it. Somehow I feel that this just might be taking a good thing too far. I am afraid that when it comes to ingesting it, I need more proof that it is not only helpful, but not harmful over the long run. Hey no matter how benign something seems, you never know what effect it might have on you as time goes by and Hydrogen Peroxide is powerful stuff. This is one of the reasons that I was always against chlorine in the water supply.

Hydrogen Peroxide is used sometimes as an oxidizer for rocket fuel. When you buy paper and paper products there is a better than 50% chance that the paper was bleached with Hydrogen Peroxide. When a catalyst is added to the solution that is made from powdered precious metal, steam is released in about 2 seconds. In the home Hydrogen Peroxide has been used for years to bleach hair. That is were the term Peroxide Blonde comes from. The FDA has allowed Hydrogen Peroxide to be used to clean fungus on fish and fish eggs. It has been used to control odors in waste water. It is good for removing blood stains from fabrics. You know those glow sticks you see from time to time, they contain Hydrogen Peroxide.

Hydrogen Peroxide is so strong that concentrations above 70% will give off vapors that will explode at or above 158 F. It is said that some deaths have been attributed to taking Hydrogen Peroxide internally. All I can say is before you try anything radical with it, please make sure that you have to see what dangers are involved. By the way, the Lunar Lander had two Hydrogen Peroxide rocket motors onbard.
