OPERATION MAJESTIC-12 is believed by many to be a TOP SECRET Research and Development/Intelligence operation responsible directly and only to the President of the United States. Some take it so far as to say NOT EVEN the president knows of their true existence. Operations of the project are carried out under control of the Majestic-12 (Majic-12) Group which was established by special classified executive order of President Truman on 24 September, 1947, upon recommendation by Dr. Vannevar Bush and Secretary James Forrestal. Members of the Majestic-12 Group were designated as follows:

The mysterious death of Secretary Forrestal on 22 May, 1949, created a vacancy which remained unfilled until 01 August, 1950, upon which date Gen. Walter B. Smith was designated as permanent replacement. This organization is supposedly responsible for all dealings into extraterrestrial matters and it is said that ETs have indeed contacted us.

The U.S. Government launched an investigation into the true existence of Majestic and came to the conclusion that the documents referring to Majestic were a fake. Many people believe that this investigation was a cover up. Included here is a file, released under the Freedom of Information Act that contains Majestic Documents. You will notice that they have been marked Bogus by the investigators. Stanton Freedman has since discovered a document in the national archive that refers to Majestic 12.
