Ancient

Mysterious Monuments

This earth of ours contains many mysteries. Some of these mysteries pertain to ancient structures and some of them from natural phenomena. Today I would like to talk about some of the man-made structures. Some of them are very ancient, such as the mounds which seem to turn up in many different countries. Silbury Hill in the UK, is one of the most famous. This thing is huge, being about 132 feet high and having a base circumference of 1640 feet. Like many other mounds it has a flat top. It took a really concentrated effort to build this mound, as it was built in three different stages, starting in 2660 B.C. It seems that the people of the time were very concerned with making this project perfect. In the last stage of the project they even included steps. so how big is this mound at Silbury Hill? It is hard to believe, but it is over 12,000,000 ft. in volume. The ancient people of the area must have really gotten a workout building this thing. So what was the mound used for? Well if we believe the ancient legends, this is where King Zel was buried. He is also known as King Sil the forgotten King. There are other legends that claim a knight in golden armor is buried in the mound, or a horse made out of solid gold. If we examine the other mounds around the world, we have to come to the conclusion that mounds are mostly used to either bury the famous dead or conduct religious services. The reason that mounds are usually flat on top is that this was where the services were conducted.

I remember when I was wondering what was inside some of these mounds, then a mound that was excavated in our own midwest. I couldn't wait to find out what was inside of it, if anything. To my surprise a Chieftain, along with his possessions was buried there. What was even more amazing was that there was a blacksmith shop and several other small workshops that had been buried in the mound with him. Apparently what these ancient people did, was move him to what was the little center of their village and build the mound right there over everything. This guy must have been truly respected for them to give up so much and to work so hard on his final resting place. It all boils down to this, anytime you see a mound there might be somebody buried in it, or there might not.

Before 1921, there was a mystery about some of these monuments that hadn't been discovered yet. It seems that one Alfred Watkins was looking at a map that contained several ancient monuments and he noticed something very strange. The funny thing was that up to this point, nobody that we know of had noticed the same thing. The strange thing I'm talking about is called a ley line. What Mr. Watkins had noticed was that some of these monuments were all in a straight line, even if they were far from each other. You could take a pencil and draw a straight line over rivers, mountains and plains and the monuments all had been built along that line. Why did the ancient peoples of the time do this? Research seems to indicate that they believed that these lines had some sort of power. In some areas you can see the straight tracks that were made to ensure that the monuments were in a straight line. Originally Watkins had thought that these lines were roads leading from one monument to another and his theory never went farther than that. That was to change in 1936, when an author attributed power to these lines. Today we hear about the power of these lines being used to build Atlantis, or even the Coral Castle in Florida. People love a good mystery.

Sometimes we think that we are seeing an actual ancient monument, just the way it was when the people of that time used it. Unfortunately this fact is not always true. Let's look at one of the most famous ancient monuments, Stonehenge. Stonehenge is located in the UK and is a huge tourist attraction. What many people don't know is that Stonehenge was rebuilt and in some cases, some of the stones were put where the scientists estimated that they should go. This fact used to be in the handbook that one received when they went to Stonehenge, but it has long been deleted from there. So what am I saying here? I am saying that what you are seeing is not necessarily what the ancients saw when they built this monument. Please don't think that Stonehenge is the only ancient monument that has been put back together, because it isn't. Putting a monument back together, if you can be sure where everything goes correctly, is fine. It is only when guesses have to be made that I object to replacing certain objects. I have always felt that if you are not sure of where something goes you're better off leaving it lie where it fell. Unfortunately many countries rely on the tourist trade and because of this they feel that it attracts more people if you have a more complete monument. I could be wrong, but from what I have read, many archaeologists object to the type of rebuilding that I have been talking about.

I know that they have been talked about many times, but I would certainly be remiss when talking about ancient monuments, if I didn't mention the pyramids in Egypt. What greater project was ever taken up in the ancient world? It is almost inconceivable that any ancient race could have built these pyramids, yet here they are standing in the middle of the desert in all their majesty. The one thing we do know about the pyramids is their function, or at least we think we know. We know that they would tombs, but could they have held another function, a secret one, that even today nobody knows about? I have always suspected that there is a lot more to the pyramids then we know of. Some scientists believe that the layout of the pyramids is a reconstruction of the Orion Constellation, with the Nile River representing the milky way. Could it be that the Pyramids were built as a tribute to some alien race that came from the Orion Constellation, more specifically from somewhere in the stars located in Orion's belt? If this were the case, maybe the ancient people of Egypt was so awestruck, believing these people to be gods, that they built a monument to them. Maybe they thought that if they buried their pharaohs in the Pyramids, that these so-called gods would come down and collect them, giving them a new life? Yes, maybe this does sound outrageous, but I really think that we have to keep an open mind here. The Egyptians did seem to possess knowledge that was far above anything that they should have had, during that time period. I am talking basically about their building skills, but there are other strange things that I have to mention, such as model airplanes that have been tested and actually fly and those strange drawings in one of their temples that seems to show a helicopter, jet plane and a circular shaped UFO. They just seems to be an awful lot going on here that we don't understand.

Strange monuments have been found in central Sahara, where they were least expected. Some of them are completely different from anything else that has ever been found. A sort of hub has been found with two sets of auxiliary arms that were lying near it. The two sets seem be made for the hub and fit into it. One set seems to be of an axle type, while the other set is more of a "V" type. These hubs are a puzzle to the archaeologists that have looked at them. For now their purpose remains embedded in unknown history. Other monuments resemble some of the types found in Europe. How did these monuments land up in central Sahara and which monuments are older, those in the Sahara or those in Europe? I think this is an important question to be answered, because it would be nice to know if the people from the Sahara came to Europe, which is probably the accepted theory, or some people from Europe went into central Sahara?

What I find truly interesting is that some people in this country actually own land that has mounds on it. Can you imagine owning land with several mounds? I know that some of the American Indian tribes are not too happy about this. They feel that some of these mounds were created by their ancestors and that they contain their bodies, therefore making them a sacred burial ground. Who can blame them for this? There is also a man in a Midwest that owns a ranch that has many abandoned Indian villages. I am not talking about the type that contain a few makeshift wigwams, but rather permanent villages that had buildings for grain storage and permanent huts for living. Apparently he had discovered these villages before he bought the land. No one else realized that they were there. The last I heard was that he had opened it up for archaeology. Talk about owning a piece of history. I actually came across a site on the Internet with a stone henge for sale, it isn't THE Stonehenge, but a stone henge never the less.
