What would happen if we found out that the human race was much older than we thought? It certainly would change our view of history, wouldn't it? There are people around today that suspect that this might be the case. Maybe it is even more complicated than that. What if we find out that the human race had reached some sort of peak and for reasons unknown, was forced to begin over? Oh you think that would have been impossible? If a nuclear war took place today and most of the people on the Earth were killed, just leaving small pockets of humans scattered over the Earth, would most of their technology be lost? If you didn't have scientists and engineers, might you go back to things that you were able to build yourself? Electricity might be completely gone and even if some generators survived, who would repair them when they broke down and where would the fuel to power them come from? You see, any technology that survived might be short lived.

Maybe some day, when we are digging for oil or exploring a cave or even drilling down through Earth's mantle, we will find the ruin of a building or device. Wouldn't that be something? I can see it now, we find a house, buried for hundreds of thousands of years, yet it is not like a prehistoric house, but more like one from today. How did it get down into a layer of dirt that is clearly over 300,000 years old? It happened because there were people back then and their technology rivaled ours today, or was even more advanced. Slightly above the find there is a layer of radioactive ash, but it is so old that it is well beyond its half life. This my friends would lead us to change human history and we most certainly would have to wonder if this was more than the first time that humans had such a setback. Nothing like this has happened yet, but there are incidences of things being found in places that would indicate great age, such as a transistor that fell out of an ancient rock when it was cracked open. This is not the only case of it happening.

One answer to this is a phenomena called transparency. It is claimed that under certain rare conditions that an object can turn from a solid and actually fall through other material or fall into it. The material I am talking about can be a rock or stone or any other material for that matter. But how could such a thing happen? The theory goes on to state that lightning strikes on an object can do this. It is said that multiple strikes on the same object or area would be necessary. If this is true and I have no way of knowing if it is or not, it would account for some very strange things that were found, such as jewelry in ancient coal deposits, tools buried in deposits that are millions of years old and many other objects. On the other hand it could turn out that these objects are actually from the time period of the deposit that they were found in, suggests. There is another explanation that I have heard, but I don't think that it fits. Some people have said that there was another planet in our solar system that was destroyed and it had people on it and that some of the pieces of the planet formed with ours and these pieces might have had artifacts in them. I think that if this was true, it would have had to have happened billions of years ago, not millions or we would see evidence of it and the objects would carbon date back to then.

Scientists and amateurs alike are always trying to push back the date of human settlements and such. Right now a scientific team is going to explore the ancient shore of Texas for possible human settlements. If they exist, it will set back the date of human habitation in North America. Here is the problem, the shore line back 15,000 years ago was 100 miles south of it current location. That puts it in the Gulf of Mexico. As I write this article, a team is examining the area. This time period is also when there was an ice age. What makes this a little unusual is that the head of the expedition is in a command center in Mystic, Connecticut. Other scientists in other command centers around the country are also monitoring this mission. The advantage of doing things this way is that many expeditions can be monitored at once. This was thought to be a good place to look for prior human habitation because fisherman have pulled up many pieces of evidence such as arrow heads and spear points in this area. This is no small expedition. There are two ships, a nuclear powered research submarine, a rov which is a remotely operated underwater vehicle and many scuba divers. Here is an interesting note about the submarine. It is said that it can roll across the ocean floor on wheels. Yeah, you heard me right.

Divers have found things, from time to time, that indicate that ancient peoples did live in an area. An example of this happened in caves along the Cape Peninsula coast. Some believe that ancient lost civilizations might have lived in them. A prehistoric axe was found that might be as old as 1.5 million years. If the axe is indeed this old it could change our entire history. I wouldn't count on it though because the scientific community has a way of burying things like this because they don't want to disrupt the current idea of our history. The stone axe was found while Bruno Werz, an archaeologist was excavating a 17th century ship wreck. After examining the site again another axe was found and some pieces of animal bone.

Finding out how far back the human race actually extends has been a tireless effort of man. There has been conflicting evidence over the years that seems to indicate that man is much older than first thought and may have lived as far back as the time of the dinosaurs. This evidence is in the form of ancient paintings and carvings that have been found in tombs in several areas of the world. An Egyptian seal depicts a large pterosaur hunting a gazelle. In Bushmanland, South Africa, pictures cut into stone show dinosaurs, such as a pterosaur and a saurpod along with a dinosaur foot print. There is an ancient temple in Cambodia that has the likeness of a dinosaur carved into an arch. The temple is 800 years old. In caves in Gorozomzi Hills, that are located 25 miles from Salisbury, there are paintings on the walls of a brontosaurus. Very ancient rocks have been found in Mexico that depict dinosaurs and also in various South American countries. This includes depictions of dinosaurs and men living together.

So what does all this prove? I guess you can't say that this is not proof of anything, but since ancient man didn't know that dinosaurs were ancient animals, they thought that mostly they were dragons. To see these different types of dinosaurs depicted by ancient man might mean that they were seen first hand. Drawing dinosaurs and men together in pictures just might mean that man actually dates back to at least the time of the dinosaurs or even before. The theory by most scientists today is that Neanderthal man was here first and modern man came along after he lived on the Earth for 500,000 years, making modern man about 300,000 years old. Could this be wrong, could modern man have been here first by millions of years and somehow Neanderthal man came into being? Intriguing questing, isn't it?
