What's New At Yonaguni?

In case you don't remember my original article on Yonaguni, it is the place where there is a fantastic ruin under the water. As great as this ruin looks, there was a hot debate going on, on whether it really was a ruin or a structure created by the actions of waves and tides eroding natural rock in the ocean. Perfect right angles appeared and there were places where it seemed that faces were cut out that were huge. You really didn't notice the faces unless you backed off to a distance. These were said to be just the eye filling in the missing data, by many scientists. One of the main questions was how could those right angles and steps be created by nature. For the answer to this puzzling question, scientists had gone onto the land and pointed out natural structures that seemed similar. No one could definately decide who was right.

Opinions seem to have changed some what. Kihachiro Aratake, the discoverer of the what some call the pyramid, indicated that he felt this was a ruin and not a natural structure right from the beginning when he discovered it in 1985. The structure is located off the coast of Yonaguni-jima, Japan. A geologist examined the structure and came to the conclusion "... primarily, possibly totally, a natural structure.". Many people disagreed with him and felt that this was definitely a man made structure but with so many things, it was not possible to prove it one way or the other, but there have been some new finds since then.

Many new finds of coastal civilizations have been discovered that date back to the last ice age. This proves that this ruin is not unique by showing that this type of structure was built in many other places and therefore the chances of it being natural are slim. Apparently the ancient peoples of the time were much more advanced than first thought. They were also very unfortunate in the fact that when the ice age ended, their coastal settlements got flooded and landed up at the bottom of the ocean. It seems that the climate at the shore was not as harsh during this time, as it was in many other places, thus building on the coast was advantageous to the people then. A Japanese archeologist feels that in his mind, there is no doubt that the ruins are man made. What is so unusual about these ruins is the fact that there are hundreds of miles of these. Yeah HUNDREDS of miles of ruins that stretch from the island to northeast of Taiwan. It seems to prove that once there existed dry land between China and Japan. Wow, I guess we should really change our history books.

So when did this ice age begin and how long did it last? Most scientists believe that it started about 17,000 years ago and ended about 7,000 years ago. This is also the time that some say the pyramids were really built in Egypt. Could the people of that time have possessed the knowledge and skill to build mammoth structures? It is certainly starting to look that way. We never suspected that these people were anything but hunters and gatherer+s and near the end of the ice age, farmers. It may turn out that they were advanced builders. The ruins at Yonaguni show an advanced knowledge of structure and the moving of extremely heavy blocks if they are indeed man made. Some claim that these ruins are the world's oldest building.

Other things have been found near these ruins that indicate that a human civilization was in the area. Artifacts have been found showing that civilization did exist around the same time, of course these in themselves don't prove that humans built the structure at the bottom of the sea, but they at least indicate that people were in the area. Some scientists say that they have found tool marks on the structure indicating that it is indeed man made. A growing consensus believes this to be the case.

Could the ending of the ice age and it's resulting flooding have been the basis for all the flood stories around the world including Noah and his ark? Were there other ice ages with their resulting flooding? Was there a point in human development where a race of humans were at least as advanced as we are today but wiped out by the floods of melting ice? Maybe this is where the story of Atlantis comes from? The earth we live on is a very volatile one. Our lives last but the blink of an eye. In geological terms, something is always happening on the earth. There is ice age on ice age, heat wave upon heat wave, eruptions, earth quakes, meteor hits and disasters of every type and description. We live on a live planet, it's core is molten.

Did a race exist that built the Yonaguni structure? Were they responsible for all the other structures that are being found under the water, all round the world? We don't know the answer to this question yet, but we are getting there as evidence begins to mount.
