There is a group of scientists, with support from others, that believe our culture does not always advance. They think that ancient history is wrong and that it misleads people into believing things about the state of our technology and our roots, that is just plain wrong. An example of this is certain evidence that has been found that seems to indicate that man may have been on Earth at the time the dinosaurs existed or even before. Can you imagine living in a time when these huge, fierce creatures roamed the Earth? But not all dinosaurs were fierce. Some were just plant eaters and others were small and these people believe that they may have been domesticated. As late as the time of Marco Polo, a description of a dinosaur was brought back to Europe by Marco himself. It was of a strange animal that pulled the Chinese Emperor's Wagon. The description resembled that of a Triceratops. Did the emperor of China have the last living dinosaur in his control?

Dr. Javier Cabrera was a professor of medicine and the head of the department at the University of Lima in Peru. He retired and was the Cultural Anthropologist for Ica, Peru until his death. Dr Cabrera managed to collect over 1,100 burial stones from tombs in the area. Some of the drawings on these stones have been carbon dated to about 1,000 B.C. People riding dinosaurs, feeding them and even fighting with them are depicted on some of the stones. This should not be possible since dinosaurs were only know to exist about 200 years ago. Furthermore, a Saurpod with Frills on his back was only discovered in 1992 yet there were depictions of this animal on the ancient stones. There is a fly in the ointment. In Peru it is a crime punishable by 20 years in jail to dig up and sell artifacts. The average life expectancy in these jails is only two years. A man that sold some of these stones to Dr. Cabrera was questioned in the presence of the police and said he painted the stones. If he didn't say this he would have been put in jail and died there. Even though some of the stones have been carbon dated and the drawings shown to be ancient, many people don't believe that they are genuine because of this testimony. The man added in his testimony that many of the stones in the possession of Dr. Cabrera were genuine.

It is not just stones that depict these ancient dinosaurs. They are depicted on pottery which has also been dated to the same period and also on material and in figurines. Some material has even been cut out into the shape of dinosaurs and is preserved in museums. Is our history wrong, does man's existence go back to or before the time of the dinosaurs?

The same people that left us this treasure, also left us with the huge lines that depict different animals that can only be seen from the air, they are the Nasca people. Their legacy is incredible. The famous Nasca Lines are known all over the world. Three different universities sent people to their location and tried to duplicate the lines, but were unable to. The mathematics required for this feat is astounding. It is now believed that the Nasca people knew the secret of flight. They had developed a dense material that would work to hold hot air. The material was black and also absorbed the rays of the sun which kept the air in the balloon at a high temperature. The material was so dense that it was denser than modern day parachute material. Did these people zip around the skies and was the secret of balloon flight lost for many hundreds of years?

This was not the only area that these incredible people were advanced in. Terraces have been found around lake Titicaca which indicate a type of irrigation engineering that is way beyond anything used even in the United States. A study was done using the Nasca method of irrigation and it produced SEVEN times the crop yield that is produced using the most advanced farming methods. This would mean that our farming technology is not nearly as advances as the Nasca farming technology was.

Besides farming, they managed to accomplish building structures that we couldn't build today using all our technology. An example of this is the way they fitted stones together into a wall. Stones, no matter how large, would be carved to fit perfectly between the stones around them. The stones were then locked into place by cutting a key into the stone and the stone adjoining it and filling this key with molten metal. This made the structures practically earthquake proof. But here is the best part, stones weighing up to 20,000 TONS were used in the structures. We have no machinery that would move a stone this size today, so how did these ancient people do this? No one knows. We don't even know how they moved the smaller stones that weighed only 200 TONS.

When they built their city, they needed a water supply. The Andes mountains were 200 miles away. They managed to build an aqueduct that was about 50 feet underground in some spots and in doing so, used engineering concepts that are a marvel, even today. One has to wonder how they accomplished all these things without machinery of some sort? There was another area that they may have been advanced in. Many skulls have been found that show that their owners had brain surgery and survived. No, this is not a misprint, they did perform brain surgery. There are also statues that have been found showing heart surgery. Here is where the problem lies, was this surgery for medical purposes or was it some sort of religious practice? It was know that sometimes the hearts of their enemies were removed. Maybe the brain surgery was really an attempt to allow evil spirits to escape?

The Nasca people also depicted horrible acts of cruelty on their tomb stones. One even depicts a pregnant woman having her throat slit by a Nasca man. Was she unfaithful and was her pregnancy the result of this or was she being sacrificed ? I guess this is something we will never know.

As we look at the ancient cultures of South America we find that there were other peoples that may have been more advanced than us in certain areas. One of these people is the Mayan People. Their calendar is accurate to within .0000002, ours is not as accurate. We tend to think that ancient people didn't get around much, yet there is a legend among the Aymara. In Bolivia many of the Aymara indians believe that they were visited by St. Thomas at the time right after Jesus's death. There are statues of him holding a book in many places.He is called Thomas and referred to as the man with the book. Many of the indians who come to town to sell their wares can be seen reading the new testament. Did ancient people like St. Thomas travel thousands of miles across the ocean to come to South America and if so, why? How did he even know that there were people there and what type of ship technology allowed for this trip?
