Cradle of Aviation Museum Part II

This is the continuation of my trip through the Cradle of Aviation Museum on Long Island in New York State. If you missed part I Click Here to see it.

1 - Fairchild T46 Flight Demonstrator, 2 - Grumman A6 Intruder cockpit, 3 - Jet Fighter, 4 - This Jet was hanging over the cafeteria, 5 - Republic A10A Thunderbolt II, 6 - Republic Thunderjet, 7 - Republic Thunderjet different view, 8 - Large model of XWing plane hanging from ceiling, 9- In with the jets was this robot helicopter.

10 & 11 Various early missiles, 12 - The yellow missile is a captured German Buzz Bomb painted yellow with US markings, the long silver missile was the first attempt at a submarine launched missile, 13 - Almost all the same as 12 but a different view, 14 - A rocket built by Dr. Charles Goddard the father of American Rocketry, 15 - Better picture of the Buzz Bomb

16 & 17 - Two halves of the Lunar Lander, 18 - Apollo Capsule, 19 - Lunar Lander Simulator, 20 - Lunar Lander Ascent Stage (part that blasts off the moon), 21 - Lunar Lander Descent Stage (part that has rocket for moon landing and is abandoned on blastoff), 22 - An Actual unused Lunar Lander from the cancelled Apollo 19 flight, 23 - A real Sputnik from Russia, 24 - Sputnik different view, 25 & 26 - Panels from space station, 27 - A space suit designed by Republic in 1960 (Anyone have a can opener?), 28 - A tracking readout, 29 - NASA uniforms

30 - You strap this on with a parachute to fly, 31 - The great pilot Jimmy Doolittle was the first to use these instruments to fly blind, 32 - Small Models of Airliners of Long Island, New York, 33 - Small models of mostly military aircraft, 34 - Small models of more military aircraft

I enjoyed my trip through this museum and finished it off with a viewing of Extreme at the IMAX theatre. The only complaint I had was the pizza was not the best.

*My camera is small and doesn't have a powerful flash so some of the pictures are dark.
